CouesWhitetail.com Member Spotlight Clay Price

Editor's note:  I have known Clay for several years now, and he has been a generous supporter of CouesWhitetail.com.  He donates regularly to our hunting contests and helps to promote the site by putting CouesWhitetail.com stickers on his vehicle, wearing CouesWhitetail.com tshirts, and buying merchandise from the site whenever he can.  Thanks Clay!!  It's great to have you as a member of CouesWhitetail.com.  Looking forward to spending more time in the field with you.

  1. What is your name?  How about your user name in the forum and how did you choose it?

Clay Price, willhunt4coues my first name is William and I hunt for coues.

  1. What is your favorite part of CouesWhitetail.com (the forum, photogallery, recipes, hunt strategies section, etc,)?

The forum would have to be my favorite part.  I love to read the stories and find out more info about the Grey Ghost.  I also do like all the other info that the site has.

  1. How did you first hear about CouesWhitetail.com?  How long have you been a member?

I was on google and had found it when I was looking for coues whitetail deer.  I have been a member since September 11, 2007.

  1. How often do you visit the site?  How much time do you spent each visit and what do you do on the site?

Every day I try and get one the site and I usually spend anywhere from 10 minutes to hours.

  1. Have you met any other members of the site?  Have you become friends with them and perhaps gone hunting with them?   Have you introduced some of your friends to CouesWhitetail.com?  Have you attended any of the CouesWhitetail.com Get-togethers?

I have met lots of members in person and through the PM’s that is provided.  I have hunted with a few members and enjoyed every minute of the time we have spent together.  I have also introduced a few of my friends to the site and people I don’t know that see my sticker and ask about the site.  I have not been able to make it to any of the get-togethers because of the distance of travel but would like to sometime.

  1. How long have you been hunting Coues deer?  Describe your favorite Coues Deer hunting memory.

I have been hunting the Grey Ghost since I was 10 years old (20 years) and have loved every minute.  The best memory that stands out would have to be my first Buck ever killed (spike) when I was 10 and with my dad.  I took a 50 yard shot the day before at a nice 90+ buck and shot over 5 times and missed.  The spike I took was at 250 yards standing with my 7mm-08 and killed him the first shot.  Man was I stoked.

  1. Do you archery hunt Coues or rifle hunt or both?  Tell us about the equipment you use.

I use a 7mm Savage, a 308 H&R, or a 22-250 H&R for a rifle.  The 7mm and 22-250 are topped with a Nikon scope and the 308 with a Vortex scope.  I love to bow hunt I have a Bowtech Alliegance with a tru glow site, AAE Cavalier Avalanche rest, Easton N-Fused arrows that have FOBS for fleching and Carbon Express Troika ST3 for broadheads.

  1. What other species do you enjoy hunting and where do you hunt them?

I love to hunt Javelina, Elk, Bear, and Predators.  Three of them here in 24A and the Elk in 4B.

  1. Now tell us some more about yourself.   Where do you live?  What type of work do you do (feel free to mention your business so other members can help support it)?   Tell us about your family.

I have lived in Globe, AZ all my life (30 years).  I am the store manager at US Airweld in Miami, AZ and have been here for over 4 years.  I am married to my wonderful wife Misty (29).  We have 2 kids together Zack (3 ½ ) and Zoey (1 years old).  I also have another daughter that I had when I was 18 her name is Brooke (12) and she also is on the site huntingirl.  My wife and I have been married for 5 years this month.  I have a toy Poodle (sissy) and she helps keep the kids in line.

  1.  Is there something we forgot to ask?  What’s your favorite hunting quote?  Favorite hunting book?

I don’t have a favorite hunting quote but I do have a favorite book How To Hunt Coues Whitetail Deer.  My dad is my hunting partner and my best friend.  Without him I would have never learned how to hunt and never knew the true meaning to hunting and that is spending time with family and friends in the great outdoors.
