Ok so i shoot a 7MM but i don't reload!This is my first elk tag..... so going with factory loads what should i use for Elk????

Well i use 139gr Hornady for Coues and they haven't let me down.. They shoot consistently every time so i guess i'll get a few boxes of the Hornady 162Gr and see if they shoot as consistent as the 139Gr do.if not ill be looking into some of the other options you all have brought to my attention .. But thank you all for your input.

I'm looking in to buying a gun for my 10year old son something for Deer/Elk.. I was looking at a 7m08. I need something with enough knock down power for elk and flat enough for coues without kicking his a$$... What are your thoughts ???

I think im going with the 7-08 looking at the TC venture and the Tikka T3 .. my son is 4foot 10inchs so not sure if i want to spend the money on a compact gun when in a year or so hes going to grow out of it.

I don't reload yet... i was going to get my reloader but my son wanted to start hunting and there went that plan for awhile... its not cheap to outfit a kid for hunting . I got him a 870 express 20ga youth model for birds a sig 516 predators now getting him a Deer/ elk gun .. so my reloader got put on hold till next year.. I've looked at the 25-06 also but it doesn't seem to have the punch i want from what I've read.The 270 is a great round but whats the difference in recoil between the 7-08 and the .270? I just don't want to scare him with to much recoil i have a 7mm but that's way to much for a 80lb kid. And thanks for all the advice ...

Thanks that helps a lot .. I think I've been changing the call to much and not giving the animals enough time to respond. i just need to hear whats working for other hunters in Arizona. on other forum i've been on they've told me they change the sound about every 3 minutes.. and that's what i've been doing but this advice came from people in VA the mainly hunt red fox . and i'm sure its different than yotes in AZ.

How long do you play a call before changing it? If I change the call to often will i scare whatever I'm calling??and whats the average time you stay at your stand? I'm new to predator hunting so i apologize if these are stupid questions.. Thanks Larry

thanks for the replies. Ive been staying on stand for about an hour and ive been lucky enough to kill a bobcat on my first stand with my foxpro but since then no luck.. I'll get the yotes yipping and that's about it.but I've noticed that i change the sound a lot i play a sound for like 5 minutes then i change the sound. not sure if i should let it play or move on to another sound. How long do you guys let your play? I've tried other forum but must of the replies i get are from other states and im sure the animals act different in VA than they do in AZ. and on here i get input from people that hunt a lot of the same grounds i do.

I'm 100% disabled vet and i was wondering how to put in for a Camp Navajo tag? Is there anything special i need to do or do i just put in on the regular draw? and who can put in for these tags am i even eligible??

how do you prepare your fur after the shot? I'm new to predator hunting and have never tanned or stretched any hide. so any info would be awesome....

So i was out calling today and i saw what looked like a white coyote? i didn't take the shoot because I've never seen or heard of a white coyote . Has anyone else seen or heard of a white coyote?

I would have shot if i had a better shot than it gave me 250 yards and moving through the cactus isn't the best shot. But I will be back there soon.. all that white sure stuck out in the desert. I just never saw a white yote kind of thought it might of been someones dog but i was long way from any house.

looking at getting a E-call but i don't want to brake the bank... but i don't want to buy crap either. i've never used any of these e-calls so i need some help form people that have use them. I'll take any info i can get.. THANKS Larry

Scooter do you have any pictures of your Ecall? id love to see them if you do that way i know what im looking for. i think it be fun to try and build my own call thanks for your input.
