how busy does dugas road get on the oct wt hunt? glassed some deer up today at a pretty decent spot. Have several other spots too that are harder to get to0 but was just curious. Are most people out by dugas just driving the road? or are there trucks parked every half mile down the road?

I hunted muleys down Dugas last year in Oct. Might have been early Nov. Anyways, it was definitely busy. Lots of camps, lots of people. I hiked in to the back country a ton and didn't see squat. Saw one doe right near where there were about 5 different camps. Maybe they knew something I didnt....

Nothing is really a secret in this part of the area.Even my good spots get a little traffic, but yes there are alot of people that hunt off of the road or close to it. Not sure where you are planning to camp, but if it is close to the road the spot's fill up fast.

That shouldnt be a problem! The place is loaded with deer! Hunting pressure has never forced me out of the areas i like to hunt in that area. But in general that is what you can expect as far as hunters go. Dougas road get's pretty pounded all the way to the rim. There are a lot of bowl's you can glass from the road and still see alot of deer.

if you want muleys go to remer road which heads toward squaw peak all in there both sides of road is muleys 90% if you want muleys go up past tule mesa off the dugas road and from there on up towards the verde rim is mostly whitetail.IF you want a little more somewhat remote area go to 22 mesa headed to pine mountain way back i saw 2 juniors this weekend shoot a 5x6 muley and another shoot a real nice 90 inch coues buck basiclly in the same canyon about 500 yds apart....good luck ...dugas road will be pounded with hunters gettin out and glassin all the way up past tule ,then they will have to walk a bit to get to the edge of cuts and what not because its quite thicker in vegetation.if U WANT U CAN DROP OFF TOWARDS EAST VERDE RIVER ITS PREETY ROUGH GOIN DOWN REAL THICK TOO BUT SOME MONSTER WHITEYS IN THERE.

This topic is 6 years old. Just sayin.

Didn't read the old stuff but I will say that the coues areas in 21 have expanded greatly over the last several years

They split the hunt. Half the number of permits one week the next week is the other half. So it shouldn't be as congested.
