Looking for a willing mentor

Recommended Posts

I just joined. I've got a Bow and a tag that I'm hoping to fill. I had a willing mentor that intended to take me hunting opening day 12/13/13 but something came up and he had to cancel on short notice. I'm a novice and I'm varily new to AZ. I recently completed hunter's ed. and I attended a workshop in Sept. called B.O.W. I'm slated to go on a HAM hunt 02/2014. I've aquired gear but I lack experience. I would love to learn from some of the best if any are willing and have the time, patience and knowledge that their willing to share. My main priority is safety. I'm smart enough to know that I have a lot to learn and the only way to build expirence and confidence is to get out in the field and practice and not be afraid to ask for help or pretend I know it all! I'm green! But very eager and excited to learn. We all have to start somewhere. Does anyone know of any good mentors with time on there hands willing to work with me?

Welcome to the site!

What part of the state do you live or were you planning on hunting for deer and where is your javelina hunt?

BOW is a great introduction to many things hunting and outdoors. hope you made some good connections there. I know women that have been going to them for years.

Perhaps if other members know what city you live in and hunts you were planning it might help others to free up some time or invite you along if they have the same hunt or neighboring.

I live in Laveen, AZ My javelina hunt in Feb. 2014 is in 36A and my tag for archery deer is not area specific. The person that was going to take me 12/13/13 was looking to hunt in area 17a/b I believe. I thought about getting another javelina tag if there's one available, my son who is 32yrs old showed an interest to fly here from Oregon to go and learn also! He's a good marksman but has never hunted eirther and I can't teach him at this point because I'm just as green!

Will I'm still looking for someone to tag along with my tag is a non- permit deer tag. The original plans were to go to area 17 but the gentleman that was going with me had to cancel . I don't know one area over another and I surely am not going alone so if I find an interested party great if not I'll have to wait for some other opportuntity. Wish me luck! I've waited along time and I'm sure eventually things will work out. I will be watching this forum and others and getting the word out is half the battle. Please keep me in mind and pass my information on to like minded individuals. Thanks everyone!

Welcome to the site. If your 36A javelin tag is a Ham Hunt you should consider signing up for the Woman's Javelina Hunt located in 36A . If it isn't then I would suggest you purchase a left over Ham Hunt tag and join us down on Amanda's javelin hunt. You won't be sorry you did and everyone has a great time. Hope to see you there. :)
