Women's Javelina Hunting Camp 2015

Recommended Posts

Congratulations to Amanda for her hard work to keep this Camp running for another year. Just saw on Twitter that

"The Arizona Game and Fish Department’s Local Sportsmen’s Group Grant Program awarded 16 projects with a total of nearly $75,000 for hunter recruitment efforts and the adoption sequence model. The program received 29 applications for project requests. "

Coues Whitetail.com for the project “Women's Javelina Hunting Camp 2015,” in the amount of $4,000

For those wondering....This camp is designed to provide a safe and fun hunting experience for women who want to learn to hunt. Our target audience is adult women with 0-4 years hunting experience. Sometimes we get ladies who have not only never hunted, but they have NEVER camped!! Our goal is to recruit more hunters. Many women have expressed a desire to hunt, but were never given the opportunity to learn how. We provide them with mentors, food and all the equipment needed for the weekend hunt. The grant pays for the food, portojohns and insurance required to hold this camp. Everything else is done through donations and hardworking volunteers who give up their valuable free time to come help at this camp. We can always use more volunteers, so if you are looking for a great event to support, let me know and we can find a way for you to help. We hold the camp in Units 36A,B,C during the HAM hunt. It means a lot to the women who attend it and our volunteer mentors find it to be a very rewarding experience.

Did you also note the season change? HAM javelina hunts will now be left open one extra day to allow for hunting through Presidents' Day.

Cool, thanks for the info! I didn't know that but that should help some of the ladies who might be able to stay an extra day.

I can attest to the fact that the Women's Javelina Hunt is a great opportunity for women to learn to hunt. All you have to do is be there (after you sign up, of course) these volunteers put you first, making a memorable event for us.
