Arrow wraps

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I just bought some Easton full metal jackets at bass Pro that are pre fletched, and want to put some arrow wraps on them to give them better visibility. Will it change the arrow performance if I install the wraps right in front of the existing fletching? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I don't think it would change much if any. It Will actually affect your foc less that way. You miss out on a few of the benefits of arrow wraps that way but it shouldn't hurt anything.

I put my wraps on under the fletching and quickly realized why I should have put them on in front. When you ding up your fletching (and you know you will), you will have to replace the entire wrap to have your arrows re-fletched. I have three arrows that need re-fletched, but I'm waiting until its worth the money to have them all redone with the wraps in front.

I also agree with (and use) the lighted nocks, but from my experience, Nockturnals have dropped in quality since I got my first set 4 years ago. The Nockturnals I've tried in the last couple of years have quit working within a handful of shots and I'm talking 2 out of 3 in the pack with multiple packs. I started researching it and I have several buddies back in Iowa who have had the same experience ever since Rage bought them out. One of those buddies put me into Two Guys and a Bow (TGB Archery) out of Wisconsin. They produce their own lighted nocks that are exactly like Nockturnals, but are cheaper (6-pack for price of Nockturnal 3-pack) and work 100% of the time. Worth a look: http://www.tgbarchery.com/home.html

i am not positive, but isn't it illegal to use any kind of an electronic device attached to your bow or rifle in Arizona? i thought i had heard somewhere that technically lighted nocks, sight lights, illuminated reticles, smart scopes, etc are not legal here? maybe someone can expand on this?

nevermind. i think that was an old pope and young/boone and crockett stipulation. i found this in the regs:

d. Electronic night vision equipment, electronically

enhanced light-gathering devices, thermal imaging

devices or laser sights; except for devices

such as laser range finders, scopes with selfilluminating

reticles, and fiber optic sights with

self-illuminating sights or pins that do not project

a visible light onto an animal.

Yep, and I just saw that P&Y or B&C finally realized that lighted nocks gain you no advantage and will let records be submitted where lighted nocks were used. There are other states (CO, for one) where they are illegal, though.

Instead of wraps you can use a piece of reflective tape..make them what ever size you want...few bucks a roll at walmart or checker...easy to find at night with a flash light too...
