Train to Hunt 2016

Recommended Posts

I competed in the TTH event this past weekend and placed 4th overall in the mens open and qualified for nationals. If you are looking to challenge yourself to your absolute max and do it with your bow in hand I highly recommend you take part next year. It was a great time with alot of good folk and the camaraderie was awesome. This was my first time competing in TTH and I'm hooked. My body hates me but every step of the 3.5 mile 100Lb meat haul well worth it. Good luck this season gentlemen!

You hauled 100# on your back for 3.5 miles?? The TTH website says the meat carry would be a 1-2 mile course and the weight would be "assigned". What was the weight based on?

Yes 100# for 3.5 miles. weight was based on age. I competed in the mens open class so it was 100#. Classes were based on age. Less weight for the older folks. It was brutal! I believe I did it in 48 minutes.

What did the day consist of? Was looking into it but couldn't get the days off in advance so didn't fallow up on it, maybe next year sounds fun.

First day was 20 target 3d shoot. No range finders and 100# meat haul for 3.5 miles for time

Day two 6 challenges and 6 3d targets spread out over 1.5 miles for time.

How does one start if they are interested in doing it? What kind of gear etc? I saw some of it going on when I was at the archery range it looked really cool.

That's a pretty impressive time for hauling that kind of weight. Nice work.
