Oryx and a 280AI

Recommended Posts

Before my hunts, I heard and read how tough Oryx were. Feeling really confident with a custom 280AI I had built, that was my cartridge and rifle of choice.

No in the field pics except a few odd balls due to my phone just dying, but here's my oil bull.

Not a monster, but 30 inch horns fit the wall nicely.

My wife and I had a great trip, and she got to watch it all through bino's.

A 693 yards shot, with a 140 gr Barnes ttsx.

Right shoulder hit and exited just behind the left shoulder.

The next year, I put in with a buddy for a broken horn hunt, and we drew.

Took a 191 yard, off hand shot to drop this unicorn cow.

So far 2 cow elk, and 2 Oryx have fallen to 140 gr ttsx's at @ 3150 fps.

Entered left shoulder, exited behind left shoulder. Did it hit inside the right shoulder blade and bounce back through? Must have been a heck of a wound chanel making a 175° turn!

Oryx is some of the best eating there is! My dad got drawn for an oryx hunt in NM this year. I'm excited about getting out there and helping my old man tag a beautiful oryx like that.
