Got the new B&C stock....fit question??

MIne did not have the aluminum blocks, the center (non-centered, wallowed out elongated way too large diameter hole) was the issue, that was my experience, not saying all are like that, just be aware of it,

Space forward of the lug...... hmmmmm...... sounds like room for the action to move (Newton's third law action - reaction)

 

Glassing, one way to leearn, do it, on your own gun, then if you mess it up, at least it's yours and not a paying customers!!!

If it was mine (I own a b&c) I would sand/Dremel that down. Then bed complete action from just in from of recoil lug all the way back to rear action screw. I use jb weld or devcon whatever I have at the time. It'll be solid after that and any accuracy issues after that will be ammo/shooter.... My .2c

I did Sunday. It wasn't grouping very well...about 2". I loosened the forward action screw a 1/8 turn and the groups tightened up to nearly 1". The original torque was 60 inch pounds. After I got home, I did more reseach and found that torque can very from 35 - 65 inch lbs. I took it apart and re-torqued it to 40. I need another outing to see how it does. I'll take my equipment and make adjustments in the field. To be fare, my shooting bench setup wasn't that great. I will have a better setup next time.

Yeah, I considered that. After some research I found that the lighter sporter barrels may need the foreward stock contact to dampen the barrel whip. We'll see.

I had a Remington Custom Shop KS Mountain Rifle with the fore end bumps that was a 1/2 MOA shooter. The downside was if you shot with a tight shooting sling it could shift POI due to sling tension.

Mine had to be made so I guess it's still going to be a little while. A Remington 700 7mm.

I checked the fit of the recoil lug. The lug fits tight against the aluminum block and the bolt holes are lined up, so it should be good without bedding, unless there are accuracy issues. There is a lot of space forward of the lug.

If I do decide to bed the lug, what epoxy is recommended? They all seem to have mixed reviews.

Devon steel 2 part epoxy works well.
