Slowly coming together

Savage 116 action

28" Criterion barrel. 1-10"

HS Precision M24 stock. Skim bedded with Devcon 2 part epoxy

Timney trigger

Pacific Tool and Gauge DBM bottom metal.

I put the Sunrise Bronze Duracoat on the barrel and action myself yesterday. I had never done it before and I was a little nervous about it but it went on smooth and easy. I only got one small blemish where the duracoat was a little too thick and made a small run. The bolt, bolt handle, recoil lug and barrel nut will be duracoat black.

A Schmidt & Bender in their RAL8000 finish would looks really good on that rifle. Just saying.

Got any more specs on it?

Barrel contour?

Weight?

Brake info?

Plans for loads?

That is going to be a joy to shoot, but not to carry. Not that it would stop me. I carried my 14# .300RUM last year for 9 days, and my 15.5# 6.5 SLR for 8 days too.

HAHA....... I bet it would.

A little over my budget.

the brake is from Criterion. They make them in house.

The contour I asked for was "as close to Sendero as they had without being custom" I think they said it was their heavy varmint.

I have not shot it yet but have 300 212 grain ELD-X bullets and 100 Nosler brass. I hope to use H1000.

Getting a little closer.

Added the black to the bottom metal, bolt and barrel nut.

3 coats of matte clear coat

What did ordered a threaded barrel? What did you use to take off your old action and installed the new barrel with?

I was not able to chronograph yet. Since there was no pressure signs i will probable if i can squeeze a little more powder in. I dont like taking the crono to the range. I would rather use it out by myself where i shoot.

I am happy with it especially since i built the entire thing, including the duracoat finish, bedding the action and installing the barrel in my garage.
