2014 Ram Cummins Diesel 4x4 For Sale

Recommended Posts

The aisin is a good deal but we probably have a dozen 3500s with the 68rfe that commonly roll up the road weighing around 40,000 lbs. Several have over 100000 miles and I can't remember one having a transmission issue.

Good to know

Pick that up at Sayer? I bought a Ram there when living in Alpine WY. Elk smashed that one just outside Alpine...

Is that Max Steel? My new Ram is Max Steel...

just because it has a Asian tranny doesn't mean it can't have major issues

lots of people having slippage shift problems - easy to google

even guys with several trucks - most never have a problem but a few are nightmares

Yes it is Max Steel... Love the color but have found it to be hard to keep clean working in the mines sites.

Agreed... On any given day any truck of any brand can have have an issue with any part of the truck. My last 4 trucks have all had the 68RFE with no issues what so ever. So I'm not speaking of one being better than the other, that we will have to see. But I do know that bigger clutch packs, bigger shafts and a stronger transmission should equate better odds when pulling. One thing i have noticed on the drive back from Idaho, is it shifts different than the 68RFE. Feels like it is working a little less harder to deliver the same power to the wheels and you really don't feel it shift.

They also tune the trucks with the aisin to have more power than trucks with the 68rfe

Yup those aisin trannys are super expensive. every part of them (even the pan!). we had one at work crack the case. tried to save it by throwing parts at it. saved a little bit of money but the cost was just ridiculous.

I love the color too, but like you say, keeping clean is impossible. Gets dirty just sitting in the driveway...
