Quail Near Roosevelt Lake??

Recommended Posts

Plan on taking my son quail hunting on Sunday around the Tonto Basin area just north of Roosevelt Lake. We've hunted there in the past, with some years being ok, and other years not so much.

Does anyone know what the hatches have been like for 2016 in this area? This will be our first time out this season, so trying to get an idea of what we can expect in finding these little buggers.

Even if I know it to be a not-so-good year...still heading out. Nothing better than hunting with my best friend!

Thanks!

Hunt near water and you should find birds. I have hunted near there a few times and every time I have gone out I found birds. Covey sizes have ranged from 6-8 birds to 15+ birds. If it's windy or a little warm look around the small raveens. They will go there for cover. Good luck and have fun.
