Irish Report post Posted August 20, 2017 Hi Everyone, I have drawn a tag in 6A for November 10th and not having hunted this unit or even whitetail before so any help would be awesome. Hunting experience has been Red Stag , Fallow ,Sika Deer and Feral Goats back home. (Ireland) Plan is to start scouting after labor day from Stone man lake south to Camp Verde. I have a few weekends put aside for scouting and the full week for hunting. Reading everything I can highlighted , glassing , glassing and more glassing and im as set up for that as my budget can handle right now. Tripod , binos , range finder.. no spotting scope that is good enough to bother carrying but i will deal with that. Tips ? Pointers ? HELP ?? Guest oneshot Report post Posted August 20, 2017 Welcome to Arizona, I'm sure it's quite the change from the cuds of Ireland. You could get up high and spend your time glassing, then try to move into a shooting possition. You could also walk(scout) through the terrain, finding junctions of game trails/choke points, then look for overwatch sites for your shooting possition... TwoGuns Report post Posted August 20, 2017 I have the same tag and spend a lot of time in 6a. You are in good country around stoneman lake. There are white tails all over, so glassing from a good vantage point is key. Many guys will get up high and just stay behind the glass all day as WT are active a lot of the day. They like to go to water in the middle of the day, so watch the weather and find where they're drinking. Two guns thanks for the offer , i will give you a shout when im planning a trip up to scout.
