Any success in 5BS? Updated with pictures.

Recommended Posts

Anyone tag out in 5BS yet? I've been up in 5BS since opening day and haven't seen anyone with an elk. We've been getting into a lot of small bulls, and one or two shooter bulls but not many. Sunday they were going crazy, but the next day they went pretty much silent. We're now starting to hear a few bugles again just after light. The rut has definitely not kicked off yet. I'm hoping it will start soon!

Well after nine days of grinding I was able to tag out on this nice six point. It's my biggest bull to date. Thanks for all the advice and pm's! Good luck to everyone on there upcoming hunts!

I have a friend hunting there. He told me lots of elk and lots of hunters. He is going back up Thursday.

I tagged out in 8 and am now helping a friend. The rut is really hit and miss where we are

I was in 5BS and tagged a nice bull opening day. They were pretty vocal where I was until about 7-8am. Evening was hit and miss. Get out there early (4am) and get in on them before sun up. Monday seemed like it was a little slower in the morning, but otherwise I think it's been pretty good.

Congrats on your bull! Ya, they were real talkative on Friday. We've been on bulls everyday but they have been pretty quiet the past few days. The wind has been terrible the past few days so that may have something to do with it.

I was helping a friend of a friend get his small bull out yesterday afternoon. There was two bulls in the same canyon screaming all afternoon, but with the wind it was tough to hear them until we got down to where his bull was. My cousin also shot a 300-310 type bull opening afternoon.

I ended up shooting a nice 6 point on Sunday. The rut activity pretty much stopped on Monday morning. We saw lots of elk, but I felt the rut this year was average at best.

I had a great first archery elk hunt in the unit with some good friend's had several opportunities but didn't capitalize on them I connected on one of six shots I took i found my arrow full of blood and found some decent amount of Blood on the floor but wasn't able to recover him searched for three day's straight in the area with nothing even though I didn't tag out I had a great hunt and can't wait for the next time to come around.
