Interesting Mallard Hen

Recommended Posts

Went out today for some duck hunting and was able to get a few ducks including these two hen mallards. The one on the right looks alot different. There is no color on the wings and is much lighter than the other. What do you guys think?

Is the beak orange or yellow?

From my buddy

Lookd orange to me. If it's yellow, it's probably a drake. Usually the blondes are only hens.

Its called a "blonde" colored bird. You see it in all sorts of birds. Similar cause as a piebald or opposite of a melaninistic bird.

Is this very common?
