Hey guys, anyone hunt mearns in south eastern Az? I usually hunt them here in NM but it's a pretty bad year. I would like to expand my horizions a bit. If anyone is interested in maybe getting together for a hunt or even swapping hunts for some nm hunts im down. I have a bunch of pretty good pointers that mind thier manners.... at least most of the time!

Hey Cody,

I'd be happy to hook up with you sometime. What part of NM you in? I was just there this past weekend for a couple of quick hunts. Only got into 1 covey of mearns, but shot a lot of scalies!

I live in Las Cruces but I hunt all over southern NM. I'm planning on for sure coming in January after my deer hunt, but I would like to make a weekend trip or two in December...

I have seen them in the Chiricahua's and in Sonora when hunting deer and turkey but have not hunted them specifically and wouldn't mind tagging along and sharing expenses.

I hunted scalies around Sunazona in the 80's with my father-in-law and that was way more fun than hunting Gambels.

I was thinking specifically about the chiricahua's. Your more than welcome to come along. Just let me know when your free. I have a youth phesant hunt I'm guiding this weekend in Roswell but after that I'm free.

I saw a ton of mearns down south last year while deer hunting, but didn't see one bird this year in the same area. Let us know how you do. I always think about chasin them birds, just never have the time to do it. Good luck if you go!

I've seen more mearns than ever this year in my scalie spots which is odd. This has been a great year for quail numbers. Heading out tomorrow for some more scalies.
