Last day success!

Here is the full story on our Javelina hunt this year!

With limited time to do anything this year we wasn't able to scout new areas, so I relied on past locations. I knew of four herds that we could hunt. We hunted three locations during the HAM hunt without seeing fresh sign. Bob Deegan and his wife Alex hunted one day seeing lots of sign in an area a friend gave us. Our friend Jake Paugh and I hunted Wed. and got snowed on a total of 2 inches. Although we saw about 40 Mule deer (5 bucks) and 20 Coues deer (3 bucks) we could not find the target we were after.

My brother Rick Forrest offered to help glass the last day so we could cover more ground.

While both Bob and I are sick we pushed each other to hunt the final day. I hiked 3/4 mile up a hill to glass an area I glassed up pigs before. Bob made it ip the hill 30 min. later after the babysitter arrived. Bob and I was getting blown off the peak 20 min. into glassing when my brother Rick txt me "I got pigs" After a frantic few minutes trying to get Rick on the phone he called and said where he was and to put my butt in gear, the pigs was feeding down into the canyon. Bob and I made it back to the trucks in 13 minutes and sped to Rick. Afrer finding him he briefed me of their location and and made a gameplan. Bob and I made our move and got to the point we discussed, 290 yards....too far! I called an audible and moved across the wash and up the oposite ridge. As we moved in I saw two pigs outa the corner of my eye and we moved on them. 140 yards! I layed down and Bob used Mesquite tree to rest on, we were to shoot simultaneously, but I screwed that up when my elbow slipped off a rock and I touched one off just missing....shoot!..shoot! Bob hit the call and two more came out, I planted mine and Bob's AR missfired, I didn't make sure I completly closed the breach when I charged it. I started calling and and they came hauling butt in. One was 25 yards in the bottom, Bob was getting ready to shoot him when one charged in from our left around a Juniper tree. Bob planted that one at 8ft. and the celebration began. Rick soon joined us and the work started.
Didn't go as planed but we are happy with the results and keeping our composure.
THANK YOU RICK!

Congrats! Sounds like it got a little western at the end.

Believe it or not this is my first Javelina with a rifle!
