Hi Naturebob,

I just read your post about your father. It was incredibly touching. Congrats on getting drawing an awesome hunt. I wanted to reach out and ask if you would be interested in having your hunt filmed? I have been messing around with my cameras and started filming hunts for others. If you want to check out what it has been looking like, I invite you to my YouTube channel. If hunt our hunts don't cross over, I'd love to come out and film your story. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC59ZCHnW1Ask6VGdh4O3Dug/videos?view_as=subscriber

My dad came home from work and would plop down and have my mom serve him hand and foot. Probably yell at us kids for something, it didnt matter he'd find something to be pissed about. I remember coming home from school on the bus and see he was home and my stomach would sink and i would literally feel sick. He didn't take us camping because he didnt want to wake up "dewey". Not much of a role model. Then we would go to church on sunday and pretend to be the perfect christian family. Then when he got older he realized he fuked up. Then about when his second chance would have started to go fishing and hunting with me and the kids he was diagnosed with lou gerhigs disease. He got to go fishing once or twice but got to spend most of his remaing days laying in bed slowly losing control of his body. His outdoors experience was mostly pictures on my phone of the family hunts.

Bob I said it before he sounds like a great guy. You are super lucky. I'm trying my best to be that guy for my kids.

I had a friend whos dad was just like that everybody cringed when he walked in. I still can hear his voice yell "BETH GET ME A BEER" to his wife and she would drop everything and grab a beer and go in and massage his feet. :( he was a jerk!

My dad was in the middle. We hunted and fished like crazy but he would always get mad about something on teip. Paps was and is horrible role model and cheated on my mom forever then ended up taking care of his girlfriend and kids rather than us. I gurantee he does not know 1 of my 4 kids birthdays.

VIP we are better! I love hearing about good father son relationships that last forever. I strive to be better but know im lacking at times. Would be nice to hunt with my dad again but the violent streak that would always appear each trip because of messy tent or forgotton coffee pot etc makes me still not want to invite. :( as i aged and got to where i could easily just whoop him i learned to just laugh at him and drive away when he would freak out and it usually did the trick. To this day he will choose a woman he just met over his own blood he just doesn't see it.

Sorry for your loss. Throat cancer is often caused by untreated acid reflux. I know a 30 year old that didn't even know he had reflux and got cancer because of the acid damage to throat. My Grandpa died of throat cancer and Hodgkin's

I miss my dad. He died in 2011. I was lucky growing up because I had both parents. My mom would spoil me and I could get anything I wanted from her. I probably could still talk her into giving me money. My dad made sure I didn't get everything I wanted. It was a nice balance.
