I am looking to get my wife a great all around rifle for AZ big game. Lets just say i have a $2000.00 budget for rifle and scope.  I would like the set up good to about 500 yards. I don't want the recoil to be too much where she doesn't want to shoot. Also i would like it to be as light as possible.  So any recommendations ? thanks for your time

Any gun with a muzzle brake, and make sure the stuck is sized to fit her, my wife love her Remington cdl 270. She's killed javalina to buffalo with it. With a Leopold scope

Just make sure that it is better than yours.

Your welcome.

Seriously though my wife's and daughters rifles are way nicer than mine. That is true for everything from binos to boots. Them hunting with me is entirely worth it.

My wife has shot most of my rifles from the 22lrs up to the 300 RUM, 50 cal muzzle loader, and many in between. By far, her favorite is the Ruger Precision in 6.5 Creedmoor. It fits all of your boxes except the weight. It is a heavy rifle, but with the weight (and factory installed muzzle brake) you get little to no recoil. It really is a fun shooter and will definitely get well beyond 500 yards. Mine shoots under 1/2 MOA with my load using Hornady ELD-X bullets. The adjustable length and cheek weld on the stock is also a huge plus for smaller shooters. Sine I am always carrying the rifle for my wife and younger ids, the extra weight isn't a big deal.

I'll also give a shout for the previously mentioned Tikkas. Great rifles for a small price tag. But with the light weight, she will feel considerably more recoil. I have a Tikka in 7-08 that I put a brake on for my wife and kids.

Also check out the Ruger Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor. I don't have one, but know lots of guys that swear by them. Tough to beat the performance in a $400 rifle.

Ruger American Predator 6.5 Creedmoor. My wife is pretty small and shoots mine extremely well. I put a bedded Boyd's stock on mine and swapped out the picatinny rail it comes with for an EGW 20MOA. It consistently shoots half inch groups at 100 and I have taken it out to 600 very easily even with cheap ammo. That setup should leave you plenty of room for quality glass and rings. I have well under $2k into mine.

Perhaps a rifle like the Weatherby Camilla which is built for the stature of a woman.  Is she right or left eye dominant?  7mm-08.  To reduce recoil, use a lighter bullet like a 120gr in 7mm (120 Nosler e-tip, 120 Nosler Ballistic Tip, 120 Barnes TTSX)

Savage discontinued their Lady hunter, but maybe you can find one on Gunbroker.

The 6.5 Creedmoor seems to be the answer to all questions these days.  There is a great choice in ammo, rifles too, just like the 7mm-08.  Case capacities are near equal (and with 120g bullet in each, recoil would be near equal), and I would prefer the 16% larger frontal area of the 7mm.

For a scope, you both would have to decide if she is going to dial turrrets or use a BDC type reticle.  For a FFP with turrets under $1k, maybe a reliable scope like the SWFA 3-9 or 3-15 (watch for their Black Friday sale). or SFP Nightforce SHV 3-10 with illuminated forceplex reticle.  https://www.sportoptics.com/nightforce-shv-rifle-scope-c611.aspx

There are numerous second focal plane scope options with BDC.  Doug at Cameraland can line you up with good prices and great service.
