    Double Down

Where did you get the llamas? I thought I was the only guy in AZ hunting with llamas.

    Rage 3-blade broadhead SUCK!?!?!

I'm not a fan of mechanical broad heads but I've had great luck with Rage 3 blades. I've killed 3 or 4 elk with them. One was shot at 70 yards with a 50 pound bow. The broad head still penetrated through the lower chest and into the "armpit" on the other side. I shot an antelope and a couple of javelina with them. I've never lost an animal since using those. Still the best broad heads I've ever shot are my traditional Wensel Woodsman I shoot out of my longbow. Everything I've ever shot with them has died in a short distance. They make a wound channel like a shotgun slug. I shoot about 180 fps with that bow and 540 g arrows.

    Spot and stalk coues

Great job Turbo! Getting to or even drawing a bow that close to a coues deer and getting away with it is VERY difficult. I have been hunting with a custom longbow from Bob Morrison for years and have taken a coues with a Damon Howatt recurve but have yet to make a selfbow. I've cut some staves of various woods and tried making a bow from cedar but it blew up. As you know selfbows in AZ have a limited lifespan.
  6. Just finished listening. Great info. I really appreciate what you have done with these podcasts and your website to help educate folks about sheep and sheep hunting.

    37B Bighorn Sheep

I'm using the power of positive thinking here... I have two less than the max points for sheep and am ready to draw a tag. I'll never draw the most popular units because they are used up by the max points 20% draw so I'm looking at other areas. I would like to have a good chance get a nice 160-170 ram or better. I am looking at units that are less popular and/or have bad access to reduce the competition and to up the adventure. I'm thinking about 37B, 24B Superstitions Wilderness, 46B west, 41E. I've seen sheep in 37b but haven't seen any big rams. Does anybody know what's living there lately? Any info on the other areas? Thanks.

Vaquero outfitters..... Ouch that'll leave a mark

He used his wife's name for the guides license last time he was banned. Never slowed him down then. He will probably beat this one too. Spend enough on lawyers and you can usually get off. Ask OJ.

    260 remington

I've been shopping for a lightweight rifle for back pack hunting and the Rem 260 and 6.5 Creedmoor seem to be the sweet spot with good trajectory but mild recoil for a lightweight rifle. I've been looking at the Savage 11/111 lightweight hunter at 5.5 lbs. I don't care much for the looks of it though.

I watched several bucks chasing does and making rubs and scrapes in 22 this weekend. Biggest buck was around 90".

    Found TC

I just wanted to post up here to thank Anthony for attempting to find the owner of this camera. It was mine! A friend told me about this thread several months ago but I thought there was no chance it was my camera. I finally signed up for CW.com and looked it up and sent a message to Anthony. I described the camera and where it went missing from and that my picture would be the first one on it. He immediately replied that he thought it was mine. Since I live in the Prescott area and he lives in Flag he gave it to a friend who lives here. I finally had a chance to go meet him today and sure enough it was my camera! I can't believe my good luck. I was really bummed out thinking it was stolen. It bugs the crap out of me that hunters would do that to other hunters. Who could believe that somebody would find it lying on the ground out in the middle of the forest. Many guys would have just left it at that and kept it but Anthony thought to try to find the owner. That shows some great character right there. Even when I heard about the camera I still didn't think it was mine especially when he told me where he found it was probably 1/2 mile from where it had been set up but he said I was the only one who was even remotely close and also described the camera perfectly so I figured maybe it could be. Not only does this story make me feel better that it wasn't stolen by another hunter but it totally turns the feeling upside down that he did the right thing by hanging on to it and trying to find its rightful owner. Anthony, you are a great guy in my book and I hope we get to meet sometime. I owe you one. Thanks. Chris P.S. Now we need to find the bear that carried that thing around!
  15. Awesome story and photos Josh. You are ruined for life now. Chris (the hunter formerly know as redbeard)
