How was your hunt on the Carlos trphyhntr? Was I at least right on the Ding Dong? Or was it a Twinkie?Dang 16 posts and already stirring the pot.Turkey hunters are very sensitive it appears. Did you end up gettIng one Healy Listen up Twink, sensitive is not the word you are looking for. It is "ethical" and "respectful" with regards to the animal being pursued. I am both. I once took a sensitivity test in Cosmo at the whim of a girlfriend. According to Cosmo, sensitive is one thing I am not. She put up with it, however, because after the first night, all her neighbors knew my name. She kept yelling at you to carry out the trash. Good one!

Sounded like the stalk started a little ways from the road. I guess you can't control where those dang birds go which is basically the genesis of every "why did the chicken cross the road joke." Go figure. Unless one is disabled with limited mobility, a guy should be ashamed of driving around eating twinkles and drinking beer while calling out the window.

Not sure where your heading with this comment but the correct answer is road hunting. Especially since the road hunter was interrupting a stalk in progress. Granted - he didn't realize it but shame on him for not respecting this bird enough to give him a proper hunt. If he can make all kinds of racket and barrel down the hill for God knows what reason, then he deserves to have the Tom bumped. Look at the bright side - at least he got some exercise walking back up the hill - maybe burned enough calories to eat a ding dong with his beer.
  6. Longboat - Sending you a PM - give me a call at the store if you have room for a stray. Thank you for the invitation - that was a solid good time - nuts - but worth the time invested. That's a lung blowout - non-stop. I doesn't get anymore cardio that that. I don't find many guys that workout like that - I'm going to feel that workout for a day or 2 or 3. But hey, I made it all the way through the hour. I'll be on vacation next week, but will call you when I get back to schedule another go of it. Healy you are an animal! Those yoga sessions must have really paid off as you have great cardio! Call when you get back - I am hoping that you make this a regular thing.
  7. I haven't been posting as I have been hunting elk in New Mexico! After the workouts - hunting was a walk in the park - even the pack out wasn't all that difficult. It felt like I had a week off of my workout routine and it made everything very enjoyable. A lot of ground was covered, a bunch of up and down arroyos and canyons, and the best part was - I NEVER got sore and was not winded at all. To top it off - my hunting partner took a very nice 6x7 that he was extremely happy with! This is why we punish our bodies the rest of the year gentlemen - so hunting truly is a relaxing vacation! Back to the gym in the morning with 3 rounds of boxing and 3 rounds of grappling! I hear my regular training partner has stepped it up all week - something about being a real deep breather now - we will see - one of us is gonna get tied into knots!
  8. Thank God it is Sunday! I am taking today off! Hit it hard since my last check in with a 2 a day on Friday and yesterday boxed 7 rounds x 3 minutes and then the 8th round was 10 minutes long. Not real sure how I made it through that but I did and now I am going to lounge around today!
  9. Two a day today! 7:45 at the powerlifting gym did squats 5 sets and step ups 3 sets then military press 8 sets. All about form not very heavy but my legs felt extremely heavy all day. In the afternoon, calisthenic warmup and then boxed 3 minutes, rest 30 seconds, grappled 3 minutes, rest 30 seconds and repeat for 4 rounds of this torture. Juanito kicked my tail today and I left feeling like a beat dog but at least there was no quitting.

"or perhaps he was just looking for his pride and dignity under the bush" The last time I heard that I was working on Apache Blvd and the reference was "dude - you'll never find your dignity at the bottom of a plastic liquor bottle and a bag of spicy Cheetos" LOL I must admit - I stole that line. But it fit perfectly.
  11. Good day today - up at 5:30 and did a great workout - jump rope for 3 minutes straight - did a warmup that is called the monster (5 air squats, 5 pushups, 5 jumping jacks, 5 sit ups, 5 burpees and REPEAT for 5 minutes) - then on to a great leg workout using a 36" box jump. Step up with weight each leg, then step up sideways, then jump up with weight, then jump over and we finished it off with some good ol' thrusters. After 2 sets of thrusters, my partner said he was done. We walked out to his truck and I closed the gate. I heard him say - wait! I left something in the gym. I asked him what it was and he said "my third set of thrusters!" We finished the third set and called it a day. You don't find partners to work out with like this guy. Goofy SOB doesn't know when to quit.
  12. Healy Arms – I read your BMI thread and I congratulate you on your November 2013 epiphany in terms of knowing you needed to lose weight. Were you able to get down the 60 to 70 lbs that you mention in your post? Did you keep it off? If so, what type of maintenance diet have you found that works?

There are very few real cowboys out there today. Those that are - I wouldn't bet against them in the hills. The problem is there are a lot of guys who would rather say they are a real cowboy and avoid a workout. Recently I had the opportunity to work out with a selfprofessed "real cowboy." He is a life long team roper, plumber working in the sun all day; don't need a workout to show me my place kinda guy. After a short warm up and 45 seconds in round 1, he was puking under one of my bushes outside my gym - or perhaps he was just looking for his pride and dignity under the bush. Like I said, there are those guys that are the real deal and can get away with their lifestyle being their workout (in a bind I would want these guys on my side every single time). In my experience, there just ain't that many of them; but it is a cool self-reference.
  14. Healy Arms - you are an animal. Not sure what kind - but a true animal.
  15. Good to have you here and good luck on the hunt!
