    My 17A multie

My 17A 4 point mulie taken on the north end of the unit opening morning. Little guy was 80 yards up a hill and didn't have a chance with my 30-06 shooting 150 gr Hornady InterLock.

    22N.

A couple places I have seen plenty of cows.....Houston Mesa Rd, just north of Shoofly.....there is a road just north heading back to the east. It will take you back to Childress Tank. Back behind there in the junipers, cows have been moving. FR 198 off Houston Mesa Rd, take the road east and before you start your climb up the hill, I have seen cows crossing the road from east to west. they love to hang in the shrubs on the north side of 198 between the hill and Houston Mesa Rd. Continue north on FR198 to the top of the hill to the cattle guard. Just on the north side of the cattle guard is quad road to the east. This trail follows a fence line on the southside of the trail. About a half mile back the cows and bulls like to jump the fence and head north. There is a tank back there called White tank. You can also continue following this trail east around towards Diamond point. It is a hump but you will find cows on the southside of the trail and down the hill. Good luck.

    Any advice for rifle 17A

Thank you Knothead,, I will definitely scout that area our thoroughly. I am also looking at Juniper Mesa area off FR7. Something tells me that I need to seek higher elevation and glass down into the fingers. Looking at some aerial images, it looks a lot more dense than I remember.

    What to do with 5BP's

My 14 year old son with no bonus points and me with no bonus points drew 17A as our second choice. But I have not been in that unit in over 30 years.

    Any advice for rifle 17A

I am taking my son on his first rifle deer hunt. I have not been to 17A in over 20 years. Can anyone give some advice on what would be most advantageous?
