Yeah what Becker said. My coues kill distances are 396,325, 220, 671 and last years was 850. Out of those the 220yd shot was the hardest just because of situation.

It may take a week or so before you find which hunt you got.

Yep. One of the best youth hunting opportunities IMO. I dont recall when they started this hunt, I just noticed it last year. They it started like 6 years ago. The hunt starts 4/17 and runs for a week then reopens 5/8

There was some pre rut activity later in the 11/27 hunt in 31. Sparring and some good bucks running the does around a little. I think most of it is caused by the cold front swinging through and they are "feeling there oats". Still plenty early.

If a heavy barrel is that important to, I think the calibers are close enough you will be satisfied with the .300 even though the 7mm is a shade better. I get plenty of range out of my .300 wsm and sometimes wish the barrel on my gun was at least a med.
