Here is what Jim wrote about his hunt:
My hunt in 36B was short but a success. I was by myself and tried a different area hoping to get away from the crowds. I didn’t accomplish that but I was able to hike farther in than everyone else and found what I was looking for. At close to 1000 yrds I had two bucks bedded, the one on the left was small and the one on the right had a big frame but I couldn’t make out anything else but he was big enough to check out. I crossed a canyon and eased up over the ridgeline with my 15X56’s only to find out he was just a 2×2. His buddy was a 3×3 but considerably smaller framed. With a frame like his and an awesome stalk and set-up, I wasn’t passing the 2×2 up! I took a couple pictures through the 15’s and then ranged him at 328 yrds. With very little wind and a solid rest I anchored him in his bed with one shot from my .270. His body was huge and packing it all out was very tough but all worth it.
The bottom pic shows the two bucks; the one on the right was the one he shot.
