This small Coues was suicidal it seems.  Last January we were in Unit 33 and just finishing up caping my friend’s first pig, when I went to get something in my pack about 20 yds away. Looking up this young buck was standing broadside staring in our direction in the thick brush.  I spoke loudly to my friend working on his pig that there was a buck, and he said well shoot it, thinking I was joking.  I said OK, and just walked to my pack, put on my release, loaded an arrow and backed up to where I could see the deer again.  Sure enough he was still standing there and I just estimated 50 yds and shot him.  Turns out he was 51.5 yds. What are the odds of that happening?  Anytime you can get a Coues buck eye to eye on the with a bow is a gift.  He sure tasted great!
