Jeff Menke 1983
1983
Unit 22, Arizona
Here is what Jeff said about this very unique buck:
I got the buck in December of 1983 after a large snowstorm the weekend before in Unit 22 near Pine, Arizona. The shot was around 100+ yards across a very dense shrub and tree area. Although the shot was good, the buck turned and disappeared in a thicket. Meanwhile, a doe watched on. I waited about 45 minutes, and then hiked across the canyon and up to the spot and found the buck hidden under some brush. These guys will truly try and hide from you no matter what shape they are in. I then had the fun of prepping and then hiking/dragging the buck out of a canyon, by myself, which took about 4 hours. I have a picture somewhere in my house after I brought it back, but haven’t found it yet. The extra horns made it nicer to drag the buck along the icy inclined area to my vehicle. I am very thankful that my first whitetail hunt turned out so positive! The weather this year should help hunters bring in some nice racks!
