Hi All, Im really glad to be on here after years of lurking, The wisdom of you all on this forum generally seems sincere and helpful. I really appreciate good interaction you all share and I look forward to helping others when I can. I know of few of the members on here personally and know that here are some legit deer / elk nuts on this forum, no drama or BS type of guys. I hunted AZ the past 5 years and have had some success, As a family guy with little ones and limited time ( like everyone) i get out as much as possible. This years Javalina hunt is a big deal for me as my 12 year old daughter and I will be outdoors spending time together for a few days away from it all. Maybe even ( if were lucky ) locate and harvest her first animal.

I'll get them to them next year. I have taken three in there at 1.5 miles. Two of them solo. I've done countless solo hunts over the years and enjoy it.

My friend and I were able to fill out 19b HAM tags on the last day. I used a custom 7mm t/c on a sow at 75 yards and my friend used a long slide 1911 on his boar at 35 yards. The sow weighed in at 54 lbs and the boar at 42 lbs. Big pigs!

So, I dusted off my Mathews Drenalin and restrung it at Bear Mountain this week. I went to buy some more arrows and wow, they have gotten crazy expensive since last time I bought. I have a few 5575 Gold Tip arrows, and was thinking about buying some more. Where do you all buy your arrows, and what should I get? $10 or more per arrow just seems super high..or perhaps I am just out of step with the times!

I got my 2020 javelina on January 20th during Fort Huachucas archery javelina hunt. I had hunted every weekend and free day all month without seeing any javelina. I had been hunting areas that had produced javelina for me before, usually glassing from dawn to dusk. All the areas I was hunting had javelina sign in them, but I just couldn’t find them. I was beginning to think I wouldn’t fill my tag this year. After glassing all morning in a spot where I had taken a javelina every year for the past three years, and still seeing nothing, I decide to try something different. Two years ago I had been predator calling in a place a few miles away and called in some javelina. I decided to quit what I was doing and go check out that spot. The spot was near a pond in an area that seemed like a good bedding area. I set up on the north side of the pond and started blowing on a predator call. After a few minutes I saw a lone javelina in the brush on the other side of the pond. He kept coming closer and stopped on the far edge of the pond. He stopped just outside of my comfortable range so I decide not to take a shot. He milled around for a little bit and then left. I tried to follow after him but had to give up because the brush was too thick to stalk trough. I headed back to my spot on the north side of the pond. I waited around for a while contemplating my next move feeling disappointed. Just then I spotted something moving in the brush on the other side of the pond. It was a lone javelina coming around the east side of the pond and heading north. When he disappeared from view I nocked an arrow and headed in his direction hoping to intercept him. I hadn’t moved very far when he popped up less than 10 yards in front of me. He froze looking in my direction as I fumbled with my release trying to hook it to my bow string. After what seemed like a long time I hooked my string and drew my bow. Just as he started to leave I put an arrow in him and he dropped a few feet away. I’m pretty sure this was the same javelina I had called in earlier. He weighed 38 lbs dressed and is the first boar javelina I’ve ever taken. I thank God that I was able to take this animal after a long hunt that I didn’t think would work out. When what you usually do isn’t working don’t be afraid to try something new.

even if the barrel channel is stepped the furniture alone is worth $200. this was well done and no holes drilled. heaven knows i am no buyer now but a pic of the crest markings, barrel channel and bottom metal would be of value. a cock-on-opening kit and a new 16" .358win. barrel would have made a pleasant addition for me. past lives and all... good luck, lee

Now 3 weeks is too long to wait? Holy balls, some of you would complain about free money. AZGFD has streamlined the process 10 fold from 10 years ago, still not good enough.

Though I haven’t had a elk tag for myself in over 7 years I will be dreaming more for my CHAMP father in law to draw an elk tag so he can fill his very first elk tag I think he has 6 points. For antelope I would love for my dad to draw a tag, he has 20 points and just wants a gun tag ether rifle or muzzleloader. I have had 2 tags in the last 3 years for antelope and I feel bad he hasn’t been able to hunt and harvest one at all for himself. 3rd would be for my wife to draw ether elk or antelope and fill the tag. She has had 2 December late cow muzzleloader hunts one 2 weeks after having are first born and one last year where she busted her butt for the hunt. I love hunting and harvesting for myself however seeing dreams come true for the ones I love means more to me than even my passion to hunt for myself.
