Here is the rest of the story yesterday Lance Jim and myself worked our way into an area that we can glass. Lance glasses 2 bulls early in the morning at a mile away we looked around the other area and could not find any other bulls that were worth pursuing. Lance made the call that we were going to make our move to a bench that we thought if we could get to we can make a shot. As we are approaching the area we got to about 1500 yards and started the glass and I was able to pick up one of the two bulls that we spotted earlier this morning he was a nice main framed 6 x 6 but had been broken off between his fifth and six point a definite shooter for this time of year just about at that time we starting to see more elk come into the same canyon where we recently saw the two bulls. At this point Lance said it’s time to make out move and get to that next bench we proceeded to get into position on the next bench when Jim my guide spotted a huge bull coming over the ridge. He radioed into us “guys I just spotted a monster bull coming over the top of the ridge bigger than anything we’ve seen” at that point we worked in to the ridge. Suddenly we heard a huge bugle shortly there after Lance picked up cows moving through the timber. After then hunt Lance mentioned after the bugle he knew we were in the middle of the elk because we had a bugle the right and cows to our left. At that point Lance got me into position on the shooting sticks and we watched cows pass through shortly there after Lance says there’s a bull get ready. I’m in my shooting lane, my crosshairs on the bull and Lance says don’t you shoot. I was thinking in the back of my mind that was a good 5 x 5 that we just let walk away. Lance said to me “Tim there’s bigger bulls in here “, at that point we move down the ridge and Lance to stops and says “there’s of shooter bull right there behind a pine tree “. He was in the thick pine looking at us. At that point I turned the scope up to 15 power and started looking for holes in the trees. I was able to find one lane on the bull he stepped out in a small hole. I had a shot Lance stopped the bull and BOOM! I made the shot. I want to thank Lance, Jim, Weston and all of the Timberland Outfitters crew for an amazing hunt and a bull of a lifetime

I was was able to connect on a nice buck the last day of the Nov. hunt. The best part was having my son w me behind the glass giving a play by play of were the buck was as I was getting ready for the shot and after the shot. He even helped pack out two quarters.

Update on OTC tags this year! We were able to fill all tags and had the best time with my children. Daughters first elk hunt! I have required all of my children to buy their own Elk Tags to help them want to and appreciate it a bit more. She was so happy to fill hers and has a freezer full of meat for college. Youngest man cub was picky and passed up some before being good with shooting a big ol cow. (oldest son had an archery bull tag and they both now have a full freezer. other picture is our good friend who we started all this fun with. So in all ways we had a very successful Elk hunting year, no one had to eat their tag this time. So grateful for the ability to spend quality time with my kiddos. #Lovefamily, #lovearizonahunting

My names Brandon and I have Been a member for a few months, Ed F referred me here to find a cape for my 2020 muley. Just got back from my first couse hunt in AZ. I had no expectations and just knew My buddy from Utah and I were going in blind. Awesome country and it blew my mind. I love glassin and this was the hunt for it. Hunted this buck hard for three days and was finally able to connect, spotted him the day before the opener and on opening day he was no where to be found, we new he should be In The area and stayed the course, on Saturday we spotted him in the same bench we found him a few days wait let and made the plan. Got to 1200 yards my buddy got his spotter out said he was bedded in the same location and after a back and forth on who was gonna go in( I was pushing him to go in and he was pushing me) I caved and went in. My buddy is a way more accomplished hunter then I am so he was happy to see me work in on this buck. popped up on the finger next to the bench he was on, ranged him at 196, cross haired him and waited for him to stand. Bout 15 mins later KAPOOOW, the 6.5 creed ate for the first time and he dropped in his bed. If you guys want to hear more details and how my buddy filled his tag as well, check out my podcast- we are based out of Southern California. I did a semi live 3 episode podcast on this hunt but am going to be posting a in-depth in studio recap of the entire trip so be on the look out for that. podbean, iTunes, google play and any platform you listen to podcast on. I have a belief I stand by that more animals have been taken by individuals wearing plaid than all types of camo combined. I have no empirical evidence to back up my claim. I guess it makes me think of how my Grandad hunted and that makes me happy. And I almost kicked a rabbit eating my alfalfa when I fed the ponies tonight and shocker, I am wearing plaid. Coincidence.....I think not.... It’s really not a coincidence because I wear plaid almost everyday.

I got one of the suits for my birthday a couple years ago but haven't tried it out yet if I remember I'll wear it on my archery pig hunt in January

Pretty much exactly what I did. Getting the blood out of the tissue helps with the iron Taste. Only thing my dad said was I sliced too thick.

Sweet, reminds me of when I helped my dad on one of my first hunting trips as a kid with him. Did almost the same thing except I helped him gut and drag the muley buck back to the truck. Thanks for sharing!

Weird?? Perhaps informative and nostalgic are better desciptors. Sounds as if you haven't a clue as to who many of the people mentioned in this thread were and that they were fairly well known in the hunting/outdoors community. A couple, such as Sam & his son, were legends among their peers.

Sam was a bit before my time, but I knew a few older guys that knew him through the Phoenix Varmint Caller club. Not a one had a bad word to say about him. Same for his son that you mentioned.

both Grandma's would flush out big vein, then soak in salt water brine for about 24 hrs, change water a time or two, then marinate in milk before frying in bacon grease with s & p & flour

That’s exactly how I hope to be!! And that’s the guy that I would respect! I’m trying to be that guy now. My hands aren’t clean at the end of the day with this job.

Best "boss" we have at work is my supervisors supervisor. We all respect the helll out of him for a few reasons. He treats us like adults, not children. He has our backs, so long as we are 100% honest and legit. Like a dad who will go to battle for his kid no matter what, but will handle business at home. He gets down and dirty with us. He doesn't lead by law, he leads by example.

I plan on sitting water for a shot around 30 yards or closer.

I have several of these scopes, and they are a great bang for the buck option.
