The whole delay excuse of "18,000" more applicants is just a bunch of bull. Something went wrong with their systems. The fall draw had more applicants than this elk draw, so its not like these numbers are jaw dropping from a processing workload point of view. Plus the thing is digital. Another 40,000 applicants shouldn't matter. We don't do paper anymore, its a program. If they would just come out and say, hey, we tried to do things differenet and caused a system problem, its going to be longer than expected to perform the draw and start charging cards, it would make me feel better, not sure why. Everyone likes transparency I guess. 2020 fall hunt draw results now available Posted July 2, 2020 187,732: The total number of those who applied for hunts or bonus points.

You guys all know the drop in deer population is directly related to the boom of the 6.5 CM.

I don't have data to back it up but I bet 15-20% of archery Coues hunters kill 90% of the deer. and again 80-90% of those are on salt or water. Mandatory reporting is the only way we can get a grasp on what is really going on. I wish they would have implemented it years ago.

Although the numbers increase in NR vs Resident for 2018-2020 is about the same (+857 res and +991 Non-Res) NR tags are increasing at 10x the rate as RES (32% vs 3.2%). For arguments sake, can we all agree that selling 29,589 OTC deer tags in 2020 WITHOUT any kind of harvest reporting is an issue? How can you issue that amount of tags without having any idea what the impact is? Success rates have to be way higher now than they were when these hunts were designed. People are better at hunting, spend more time in the field, hunt harder and spend way more money on hunting gear now than ever before. All of those things drastically increase your odds of killing animals. The Arizona model has not changed much since probably the late 90's/early 2000's and is built around banking that people will continue to have low success rates. They do not want to have mandatory harvest reporting for the simple fact that they will not be able to sell as many tags because the statistics will show a tremendous jump in harvest numbers. It is a huge predicament for us hunters here. I for one LOVE that I can hunt deer every year in Arizona but at the same time, I do miss the days of strong deer populations, more mature bucks and lower pressure. You can't have your cake and eat it too I guess but sticking your head in the sand when there is an obvious issue doesn't help.

Glad they did it on the elk draw cycle. Would hate to have these kids of issues waiting for my javelina results to come out 😆

Nice lookin pile!!!! I've gotten to where I enjoy shed hunting almost more than hunting hunting.....I don't have to get up early in the morning, I don't have to be quiet........and I can go whenever I want to!!!

I like Utah’s system better. No matter what you apply for you have zero chance of drawing so it doesn't matter when results are posted.

Maybe it's not truly random? 🤔 Seems like a young girl gets a premium elk or deer tag every year and we have to make sure a woman gets a sheep tag as well. 🤷

I think the worst thing I saw as far as non res hunting was Instagram page called hunt wars. Where teams of non residents had a contest to kill our deer. The whoring out of our game is disturbing imo

Nice. this time of the year I like to dead stick spinner baits. Yes it works very well Ask Mr. Bass I might have done it with Larry out there as well. Larry and I tore them up one year in early march on Jigs. that was a fun trip Edit: should have clarified, deadstick a blade means fish it like a jig, They will hit that faster then a jig sitting on the bottom

I agree that the overreaching can get out of control but this is a stretch. Banning cameras leads to no hunting? There is a real argument to be made that it will lead to better "hunting". Maybe less taking of a targeted animal and fewer trophy guides out there. Anyone that has been to the bab, strip, 9 or 10 for elk that didn't have a guide with them knows the misery of the cameras and guides use of them during seasons. Just because they may change the way you have become accustomed to hunting doesn't mean it's all coming to an end.

You might as well kiss hunting goodby in your lifetime friend! Because now they have brought to the forefront fearful SAFETY issues in hunting starting as simple as a trail cam ban , Now 2 hunters arguing over a hunting spot with guns oh my now they are gonna shoot each other and or beat each other to death (SAFETY ) it could happen so lets stop it now ! Now maybe we should we ban guns because they can hurt another hunter or ourselves or an innocent bystander . IT DOESNT STOP! What about those bullets that miss their target with no proper backstop . SAFETY What about that arrow that just missed its intended animal. Where did it go oops it could of hit a hunter or bystander , I mean come on there is alot more people in the woods now days its dangerous ( SAFETY) Have they ever considered adding TRAIL CAM ethics to the hunter education safety course 1st. Teach our hunting public the standard . So now we should ban cars because a 16 year old might race with it and kill himself. No you educate him about the hazards . If he messes up you take his car away. Hmmm Laws only work if their enforceable and have consequences and those that follow the laws understand that. Any Trail cam ban will be unenforceable because you cant (Hunter ) but he can (Nonhunter) GAME & FISH has opened up a can of worms anything to do with hunting can now be based on a safety issue anti's are gonna love this one! What a bunch of foolish men like yourself that have bought into it! Shame on you Start selling your guns and bows its a Public Hazard based on the AZGFD LETTER. THE REPERCUSSION DOES NOT STOOOOOOP! It will echo through our hunting world for years to come.

Well, I think I should be good for my hunt in 23 this year. After helping on my dads Elk hunt last year and having my butt kicked by a mountain I should have had no problems with I decided to make this year about getting back in peak shape.... I set a goal of losing 120 lbs. and Running the Spartan Race ( doing the sprint for the first time out) when it comes late Feb. 2015 ... I have not hit the gym as much yet as I would like, but through changing my ways I am down 74 lbs and well on my way. Eating right , Daily Push-ups and staying active combined with a few days of gym work is paying off. Maybe Coues should get a group going for the Spartan !!! http://www.spartan.com/events/?event_id=300/arizona-sprint
