    Flat primers

.010-.015" headspace is HUGE. If you are just forming brass, back that charge way down and blow them out.

    Flat primers

Definitely more signs than just the flattened primer. Velocity? That can be a telling sign. But not the only one. Are you using normal primers or AR style/military primers? ARs are rough on primers. If you are using normal SRP primers, try the #41 primers or a magnum primer, which have a harder cup. New barrel? Could have a tight spot. Solvent in chamber? Doesn't allow the case to expand and grip the chamber wall, allowing the case to slam back into the volt face. Too much headspace? Again, this doesn't allow the chamber to force the case against the bolt face, allowing it to slam back into the bolt face and cause false signs of pressure. Bullets jamming into the lands? This will definitely spike pressure.

    GSP Puppies available

I just lost the best dog I ever had over the weekend to a brain tumor. It happened so fast. Sat @ 6:00am, he was fine. By 6:00pm, he could not walk. By 7:00pm on Sunday, we put him down after 13.5 years. He was 14.5 years old. He left a huge impact, and now a huge hole in my life.

    Vortex Optics Truth

Something used that was originally in the $2700-3000 range. Seriously. I have a Kahles K318i that I got for $2k used. I have seen some S&B PMII 5-25x56 DTs for around $2000-$2400 on rare occasions. Maybe a NF NX8 new. Either the 2.5-20x50 or the 4-32x50.

    2007 F250 Super Duty 6.0 Diesel

I asked my son-in-law who is a Ford mechanic what I should ask. He told me about tons of trucks that needed MAJOR repairs, both body and mechanical, that were currently selling for at or near this price, for far less truck with far more miles. Heck, we sold our old work fleet of beat to crap Dodges with twice the miles, body damage, blown transmissions, etc. for $25k each.

    WTB Rain gear

For colder weather, I definitely like the Yukon. I wear one of my sets for work when it is cold and windy. I have worn them as outer layers when hunting in the snow a bunch. Nice to keep your butt dry when glassing in the snow or dewy ground. Waterproof and windproof. I have crashed through a lot of thick stuff, and they have shrugged off all tears and snags. The Chugach are definitely lighter. More like just a shell. But they are definitley rain gear too. I have always stayed completely dry except when wind blows it down the collar. They do have a hood, I just sometimes don't wear it when I have a cowboy hat on. Depending on WHERE and WHEN your tag is should determine what set you get. If you have a Unit 22S early archery type tag, I would go Chugach. If you have a Unit 1 early archery, the Yukon makes more sense. If you want to use it on mid to late season too, the Yukon is definitely the way to go.

    7mm PRC

My hat is off to Hornady's advertising devision. They can really sell. And, they R&D devision is second to none the last 10-15 years. Nosler has come out with a few firebreathers, but Remington and Winchester have been sitting on their hands. Heck, even Weatherby and Sig have released a couple new cases. But, that article is nothing but hype and misleading information. The case drawing is showing it to be a long action cartridge. Just a couple months ago, it was said it should fit in an XM or LA. 3.4"+ is definitely LA length only. Claims that the 7 PRC will outrun a 7RM. Then claims it is a ballistic twin to the 7SAUM. (The 7SAUM is a ballistic twin to the .280AI. Which is outrun by the 7RM). Claims the oldwives tail of the dreaded "belted mag" 7RM not being able to be reloaded but a few times (I have 11 and 12 firings on my R-P 7RM brass). Claims the 7PRC will feed better than the 7SAUM because the case has a "lower 30° shoulder angle" (so does the 7SAUM?). I think this cartridge will take off, with as popular as the 7SAUM and .280AI are, especially if Hornady can get Lapua on board to make brass. ADG already makes 7SAUM brass, and also 6.5PRC amd .300PRC brass, so no change if they make 7 PRC brass too. Peterson makes 6.5 & .300PRC brass already, so I am sure they will jump on 7PRC brass also. I still feel Hornady brass is very lacking, so jist getting factory ammo (even if it is Hornady) will be advantageous to a lot of guys wanting a new flavor of medium capacity 7mm. If you are a handloader already, there is a world of medium 7mm that are already available, even a lot with proper headstamped brass. I look forward to seeing how it performs.

What Happened to All the Rain?

We got hammered Thursday night, and more on Friday, a bit on Saturday too. I thought we were going to get more last night, but just wind and dark clouds all around.

Photo of Your Very First Coues

My first, and ONLY Coues deer. I am a muley hunter. Applied for the wrong number and drew a Coues tag back a long time ago. 2001 or 2002 I think. Being a Mule deer hunter, I had no clue what a Coues was supposed to look like. I saw this buck for 5 days and passed on him hoping for something big. On my last day to hunt, he was the biggest I had seen, so I hiked out and popped him. I was quite disappointed at how small he was. If I had only known then what I know now....and if I would have had the money to get a shoulder mount.....

    X-Caliber Barrels

X-Caliber are OK. About like Douglas or Shaw. I have seen a few that were just fine for accuracy. I would not be afraid to use one. Carbon Six are great barrels. I have seen a bunch, and they are fantastic. More money for sure, but comparing apples to oranges.

    Sale: Primers, Powder, Bullets

I bought a big lot from a buddy, at pretty much market value, but a lot of harder to find items. He wanted to sell as a lot and not hassle with breaking it up. So I bought it all. If my wife sees our checking account balance, I am in deep doodoo. 😕 I kept what I wanted, and I am reselling everything else. Prices are listed below, plus shipping will be determined. No shipping primers or powder. AZ (Phx area) local FTF only for primers/powder. First come with cash, first served. I won't hold for you unless you pay for them. I have been stiffed by people saying "I will take it" and never showing up so many times it is not funny. 99 @ 6mm 95 TMK $45 Sold 99 @ 6mm 110 SMK $45 444 @ 6mm 115 VLD $55/box or $230 all Sold 200 100 @ .308 180 TGK $50/box 100 SOLD, 100 left 1# IMR8133 $65 Sold 3# Retumbo $70/# 3# H1000 $70/# Sold 1K CCI209 Mag Shotshell/ML $120 Sold 1K CCI300 Large Pistol $100 Sold 1K Fed 200 Small Mag Pistol $100 Sold 500 300 @ 6.5mm 147 ELD-M $43/box (200 Sold, 300 left) 400 6.5mm 140 ELD-M $43/box Sold 400 @ 6.5mm 140 Barnes Match Burners $41/box 400 @ 6.5mm Berger 153.5 LR Hyb $61/box. Fishing big island HI need recommendations

Do an all-day trip. Half day trips are not worth it. We booked a smaller private boat, like a 35' I think, and it was amazing. Scored a couple blue Marlin, a 188 and 390#. Not toads, but plenty big for me and an 11-year-old daughter to fight for an hour each. Plus, the captain called a local restaurant from the boat, and they met us at the dock, and bought the fish. The captain split it with us, and that paid for half our day!

    Scope mounts

WHICH NX8? The 2.5-20x50 will have a VERY hard time fitting on a LA without being mounted either very high or very far forward. The 4-32x50 won't have that problem. As for Rings, my first choice is the American Rifle Co. M-Brace/M10 rings. Second is Seekins or Hawkins. Flip a coin.
