  1. Alright folks, do I have a deal for you! I just started making these and they work great! This is a lightweight campfire grill for your backyard or camping needs, based on the ones used during the 17-1800's and on through today. 100% hand forged with hammer and anvil out of solid steel barstock. I made this one with lighter gauge 3/8" and 1/4" steel round rods with elk season in mind. The stretchers are about 3 feet long and the legs are 2 feet, so you can set this thing in solid or as high/low as you want. The whole setup is lightweight and perfect for packing in to your deer and elk camp this fall. I've used one of these at my own place with great success and this thing is solid. I guarantee all my work and I've been blacksmithing professionally for 4 years now, and four more before that as a sideline. Comes with 12 cross bars, but I can make you more if you need them. I usually sell these for $100-150 but for coueswhitetail members I'll sell it for 75, or you can make me a good offer if you have something else in mind. I'm making several of these, so no worries on supply, but there might be a short wait to get the others finished up since school's starting back. Blacksmith Made Game Hanger

I've got a hand made traditional pattern game hanger for sale. I made these back in Kentucky for deer and game processing so I figured they would be needed out here as well. $ 40 Piece is bare metal right now, but could easily be painted if desired. I can make more of these if you want more than one as well.

    300 win mag

Savage 110 in 300 win mag brand new run around $630. What is the letter designation on the gun (ie BA, FCP, XP, etc)? $891 sounds high for a standard 110. http://www.savagearms.com/firearms/model/10TROPHYHUNTERXP

About where are you needing help in 34 A? I'm up in Tucson. No trained dog, but I could possibly help put boots on the ground.

I do custom orders, repairs, whatever you need if I'm able to. This is part of how I have and how I'm currently putting myself through school.

savage large shank 300 rum and extra 7 rum barrel

If the round count's that low you shouldn't have to! lol It's usually for big magnums after a couple hundred shots. The headspace/throat will start to erode some as the barrel burns out.

Need help finding a LR rifle

Tikkas are flat out shooters and you can find a tack driving off the shelf gun for about 600. Only gripe would be they are kind of light, and like the savages they aren't much to look at, but both could be addressed with a different stock. I think putting a good B&C or McMillian stock on one would make one heck of a gun!

What's the round count on the two barrels? What about the crown condition and head space?

Looking for advice on Vortex LR scopes

The MOA system is easier to keep up with at various ranges. Everyone rounds to a simple 1"/100 yards so 1MOA= Range/100 or 3" at 300 yards, 4" at 400, etc, but 1 MOA is actually 1.047. This is pretty negligible until you start getting way out there so it is used for hunting more. For MRAD it's a fractional distance of 3.6"/100 yards which ends up being more complicated to calculate. MRAD is a base 10 system so it goes 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc instead of the fractional MOA at 1.25. 1.5. 1.75, etc. MOA scopes are a bit tricky depending on what kind of turrets they have as they can be 1/8, 1/4/ and 1/2 moa adjustments so you just have to remember your clicks instead of having a standard adjustment between scopes. When it gets down to it it depends on your preference and whether you want to do alot of math! haha

Dang! Wish I had my school loans in right now! Sharp rifle!
  15. I've been looking at these rifles for a while now and I'm a little conflicted. Has anyone had any experience with the set up? Is the extra weight a problem with the hunting up in the mountains around here? Are these good hunting guns or primarily "bench" guns? I was looking at the 7mm mag and 300 WM for a good all around big game rifle.

Haha, I know. I just like telling the story behind it and it's brother whenever I get the chance. At 235 pounds, that thing was a beast to move too!

    Blacksmith Made Game Hanger

Unfortunately it's not for sale. Kind of a necessary tool for a blacksmith and it's the only one I have out here with me. That one is one of two of my Mousehole Forge anvils from 1835. The other is one the Union broke the horn off of during the Civil War when they came through Tennessee. It's the namesake of my business, Broken Anvil Forge.
