  1. I have a friend who lives in central AZ, and he has deer all around him.  As of this morning he has only seen a small 2 point and 3 point move into the area.  The bigger bucks usually show up after Christmas so should be any day now.  The area where lives has already met its quota so all he can do is watch the deer.

  2. As kid growing up my dad worked at East High School in early 70's.  I can remember driving by the Cudahy plant every time we went to his work.  Sometimes, on the weekend my dad would go up to the school and play tennis.  He would take me and some of my friends and drop us off at the corner of intersection between school and Cudahy.  He would let us take our BB guns and shoot rabbits.  There were hundreds of rabbits around the cattle yards and desert surrounding the school.  Funny thing, I can't ever remember killing a single one but man we had fun trying.

  3. Not a big fisherman so I don't where else to post this.  If you own a tracker boat and lost something out of it early this morning driving on 83rd ave between pinnacle peak and happy valley road, I may have something that belongs to you.  Contact me if you think you can identify what I have.

  4. I hate to say it, but that area could use another good fire.  It is severely overgrown.  A friend was talking to a rancher in the area a couple of years ago and the rancher said the last fire that went through 5 or 6 years back had an amazing effect on springs in the area.  The rancher said springs that had been dry for 30-40 years or more started to have water again after the fire.   Now is a great time of year for a good slow burn.

  5. Although I have not used him because I can't seem kill anything, my hunting partner has been happy using Karls custom meats in camp verde.  He has taken two elk and a couple deer to him.  For those with tags this year, I recommend getting your meat cutter located before you head out.  Good Luck

  6. Be happy for these times of high temps.  It's the only thing keeping millions more people from moving to our once great state.  As a native, I will take extreme heat any day over the extreme cold.

Got 2 tags in 19B over the years. One in 1985 and one in 1992. Got one on a ranch and one in the Natl forest.

Didn't somebody at K4 get murdered back in the 80's?

The murder was not on the k4 ranch it was directly west of K4 about 2 miles.  It was a ranch hand that murdered somebody at the big house just past the ranger station along walnut creek.  I think it was the owner of the house that was murdered.

  8. Most of those trees were cut back in the 70's but yes, doesn't seem right.  I imagine they sell it to the powers that be, by cutting trees more water goes into the aquifer.  The checker boarding of land almost always seem to work for the landowner and rarely the public.

Many years ago, my dad trained horses and new the old man Kiekefer.  All the way back in the late 70's I can remember my dad telling me he was a shrewd businessman.

This was never about  race or color. Yes I'm white but I come from  a very diverse  family.  There is just about  every  color or race in the family  somewhere.  Dad married  a Mexican  so did my brother . One married  a pilipeno  then a white woman  then a Mexican.  Step bro and sis are half white / Mexican  . Aunt Terri is black. Race has nothing  to do with  class and respect for other people  and there space. I see just as many  whites leave camp littered as any other race . The music  or noise as most call it comes from  everyone  with a stereo  in there sxs that thinks everyone  should  hear  it. There are bad apples  in all colors and races. Remember  that when you leave camp and drive by the white or black or any other race you see leaving  there trash in the woods .

This looks a lot like my family.  My wife is Mexican and has 8 siblings.  Her brother used to always call me the colored guy of the family.  Like everything, there is good and bad in ALL people.

  10. I was up north a couple weeks ago put'n around and I was amazed how little water were in most of the tanks.  After this past winter's moisture, I thought they would hold water longer than they have.  A couple were already mudholes.  The week before the 4th of July weekend I was camped along east fork of black river.  Hardly a cloud in the sky the entire time we were there.  Normally, by then we are getting a few afternoon showers.  I am hoping this is just going to be a late monsoon and not a nearly non-existent monsoon.

By the way, the howling of wolves woke us up every morning.  First time I have ever heard them, and I was surprised how long they would carry on, which was 15-20 minutes straight.  I have seen them before but never heard them.

I hope all archery does go to a draw.
it might actually help with draw odds.

Be careful what you wish for because you just may get it.  It may help some odds, but you will not be able to hunt at all if not drawn.  At least with the way it is set up now you can go hunt OTC if not drawn.

  12. As already said, you need to go to a bow shop, and they can help you.  Once you find your correct draw length, reach out and see if anyone has a newer (5 years or less) bow they want to sell with the same draw length.  I have been shooting a bow since 1978 and I always tell everyone to bargain hunt for their first bow because you never know if you will stick with it.  If you like it and want to continue, then shop for better stuff.  Bows depreciate faster than a new car, so it is possible to get fairly new equipment at a real bargain.  Just like a new golfer, I would recommend paying for a couple private lessons too.  This cuts the learning curve way down and prevents you from developing any bad habits.  check out Bowsite.com  classifieds.  Good Luck and welcome to the brotherhood!
