    Hunting in the whetstones

Some very rugged terrain in there, be prepared if your going to hike miles in. Plenty of glassing hills and ridges to get high up and glass from.

    First velvet

Finally got it done on my first velvet buck. After countless failed stalks and hours behind the glass over the last few hot summers, it came together. It's funny, I like to tell myself that I'm gonna hold out for a bigger buck than my last (3x3 or better). I was after this guys bigger 4x4 brother but after not being able to find him, this guy stood and presented a shot, and I couldn't help myself. Some day I'll hopefully get the 4x4 I'm looking for, but it's just too much fun and rewarding to tag out with a bow. I gotta say I was impressed with the sevr broadheads. He was quartered away and I hit the last rib, with about 3/4 of the arrow penetrating on a 68 yard shot. I watched him drop in his tracks after running 20 yards. I have never shot a broadhead that flies as well as they do either. Big thanks to my good friend Syd for guiding me in and being there to help out.

    UPDATES

Man, I wish I was at elk camp. I'm reminiscing about my hunt last year and how awesome it was to be camping in elk woods for two weeks. Good luck to everyone and enjoy every second you have out there.

    Fruits of success.

Congrats, can't wait to see pics. Meat soaking in water/blood isn't good for long periods of time. I been aging my buck for almost a week now, I just keep replacing ice and keep the drain cracked open to let it fluid drain.

    Two Tikka Rifles for sale

It says you cannot receive PM's. I'm interested in some 6.5 creedmoor ammo, I'm located in Vail, let me know when and where is the best time to meet.

    New to 6a

Don't overlook the southern portion around camp verde as well, lots of glassing around the junipers if the bulls are quiet.

    Introduction

I've shot a few spikes myself. They are definitely tasty and fill the freezer. Always awesome to tag out. Welcome

Tikka T3x vs Bergara B14 HMR

I have a bergara b14 ridge in 6.5C that easily shoots 5 shots under 1 MOA. Super smooth action as well. I know it's not the HMR but still an awesome shooting rifle. I think the feel of the bergara as far as the stock goes it better as well. You can't go wrong with either one.

I think hes referring to the dump a little north of the town of Patagonia, which would be 35A not B if I'm not mistaken.

    Pinpointing downed animal

I didn't know about this either. I pretty much stopped carry a gps with me for most hunts since smartphones do most of what I need. Good to know.
  24. Same for me, the one on the right is just too unique.
