  1. I've noticed the same thing. The number of bucks over 75 is much less than it was 5-6 years ago. Personally I think we are seeing the effects of the 3 bad drought years we had. The upper age class isn't there right now.  I have seen lots of young bucks this year. One area I scouted I saw 26 bucks in one morning and 24 of them were spikes or 2x2's. The other two were tiny 3x3's. There are a lot of really young bucks around. If we continue some good rain years I think things will change in the next 2-4 years. Lowered tags would help as well.

  2. He says they blew up 4 stalks? Clearly he hasn't hunted much. There isn't a human on the planet that doesn't blow stalks. You keep trying till it happens just right. I've been in camp with them and they hunt hard with lots of local knowledge. There is a reason they can charge as much as they do, they kill big stuff constantly.

I put my grandson in for elk when he was 9 and would be 10 in August. He didn’t draw and also didn’t get a pt. I was told they aren’t eligible for pts until their 10th Bday.

They screwed you over. Both my kids have summer birthdays and both got points that year when applying at 9 years old almost 10.

  4. I was against the e-tag thing for a while until I tried it. It's a lot better than the paper tags in a lot of ways. I do have to carry a sharpie with some duct tape wrapped around it for the confirmation number. Never can leave your tag at home anymore! Been down that road a few times. It's pretty dumb I had to drive to a regional office to buy2024 OTC tags that appear on my phone. I literally left the office with just a receipt. It needs to go to buying tags online.

I don't believe the pop man hunts were on public land, the boundry was all north of the forest service

Theres a lot of state trust checkerboarded in there, some BLM. Technically not public, but you know what I mean, huntable not private land.

Couldn't disagree more about the 12s being too much for under 500. The FOV they have is incredible!

Ya the NL's do have a large FOV. What's the 10vs 12 FOV?

    Looked it up:

    12x42 NL 339ft at 1000 yards

    10x42 NL 399ft at 1000 yards

Both are excellent and you cant go wrong. Personal preference really. I'm in the minority liking the 10's but thats what works for me looking through both.
