I have your hunt this year as well. Last year I had a late cow hunt in 7E. Temp's were low- about 5 degrees at night. Some of the roads were bad, and I actually had to pay to get recovered once. Yeah, scouting too early isn't going to work. Weather is going to be the deciding factor. All I can tell you is learn that unit. (I will tell you the cones are really fun)

Oh yeah they're out. I introduced myself to a beautiful 3 and a half foot western diamondback yesterday on Bloody Basin road right before whatever hurricane rolled in and turned the area into a sand nightmare. Trying a new technique. Pretty simple. Half glycerin and isopropyl alcohol in a mason jar for 3 days and stir it once a day. Then cover in glycerin and dry for 24 hours. I'm thinking I need a George Strait and this would make a killer band. Has anyone tried this method?

I killed my first coues from a blind- at point blank. He actually started stomping at the thing (with me in it) at about 2 ft. Anyways, If I were going to use one leave it up for at least 3 days and brush it up. They also attract lightning from what I can tell. Here's a pic of 1 of 2 blinds that got nuked on a mountain in 22S. It took me a minute to figure out what exactly that thing used to be.

Hey folks, I'm in the market for a new scope. I hear great things about the Vortex BDC's. I wanna get out to at least 500. - Anyone have any first hand knowledge with using these scopes and a 30-06?

The Alaknak held up really well. It's huge! But- I'd rather have a bigger version of the Big Horn.

The kids got this unit for Jr.s Cow. We're going to be spending a lot of time in this unit come August/Sept. - I've never really hunted here. Spend a few weekends at some hotspots and I'm sure it'll come together.

You know it seems to do ok at 300.. but never tried at 500. There's a significant drop I'm sure you're aware of.. I'm not too thrilled with it anyways. It doesn't feed well. But we'll give it a shot- (so to speak) and yeah- maybe something a bit lighter in bolt action is the answer.

Ditto! Never been on a bull elk before. I know the unit fairly well. The boys got cow 5b/6a. It's going to be a busy year!

And apparently having a fence is pretty important. We've been getting a lot of attempted break-in's at the garden perimeter. Little holes dug around most of the fence. Nothing got through, but I was curious. A little early to set up the cameras for deer, so I got some practice in.

Yup. That's what it was!

If I get the time.. And a big 'if'.. I'm going to get a Bear tag and walk around some mountains in 22..

Hoss, I'm sure I'm going to be asking you tons of questions. It *was* a great place, and I think we just needed some more time. Sorry about the draw this year..

Me and the boys just got tagged this morning. Now we prep.. I'm hoping it's some good units!

Congrats to all who got picked! Yeah- I think I'm gonna land a cow hunt in 7E in Dec. I will tell you that the Under Armor 4.0 cold gear worked GREAT last year. I don't see how I'd leave the tent without it.

The neighbor threw them over when we started the project. I'll ask him what it is.

We just started two weeks or so ago! And we just planted 30 potatoes in a circular tire-type thing. We can't wait for those!

Anyone have an idea? Not a rattler.. that's the best pic I could get without a selfie stick =)

Oh yeah. He's my new buddy!

And.. was going out into the back patio to set some more mousetraps last night. They're digging out there. Looks like this guy beat me to it. Had his head 6 inches down a hole. Those snakes are coming out!!

I did not. The boys of course did Jr's Elk so we're hoping for 2 cows in October. I put in for a bull and a few cow hunts with better odds- all rifle.

The boys and I just got hit this morning. Luck of the Irish?!

Thanks! Hopefully he can help with the mice!

Thanks for that- I was looking myself.
