    Rutting

Got out a couple times last week and every group of does we saw except one had bucks. The little guys seemed to be a little more rutted up where as the big boys were just hanging out. Pretty sure it is going to happen very very verysoon if it hasn't started... I hope this storm moving through today into tonight and the cold temps tomorrow will have them focused enough on love long enough for me to let the air out of one!!!
  5. Well I have been preparing a lot for the January archery season these last couple of weeks and as part of that preparing I decided to scout out an area I always thought looked good on maps but never had the time to check out. I was able to get out twice this last week to check it out. The spot is far from roads and looks awesome. On top of that the area did not disappoint with the amount of game it holds. We were able to find plenty of deer and some javelina. One small javelina even came within ten yards of us as we sat and glassed .Most of the bucks were smaller. Forkies, small 3x3s and 4x4s, although we located 1 very solid buck and a great buck. We figure the solid buck will be close to 155"-160" and the bigger of the 2 to be around 180"-190". I wasn't able to get any pictures of the bigger buck since we found him at last light at around 900 yards and only got a long enough look to see he was at least 29" wide and at least 180". I was however able to get some decent pictures of the other nice buck. Here are some pictures...
  6. Can it be tomorrow already!!!

  8. Well a hoyt box under the Christmas tree is easily one of the best sights in the world! I couldn't wait until Christmas knowing the new Nitrum 34 was right there and having the upcoming January archery deer season here in AZ so I broke it out and got it setup. I am using a smackdown pro rest, MBG ascent custom 3 pin sight, and a 10" carbon blade stab. Haven't decided on arrows for the bow yet but found a couple of Easton flatlines laying around to mess around with and this thing is a dream to shoot and a tack driver!!

    rut

Watched a decent coues buck push a couple of does and also get into what I would call a playful sparring match with a smaller buck on the late November hunt. It was right after that storm that moved through the last weekend of the hunt.

Mechanicals: grave digger, swhacker, ulmer edge. Fixed: QAD Exodus or slick tricks. I prefer the QAD Exodus
