    SOLD- Savage 24 22mag/20ga

I have a very nice safe queen with beautiful stock checkering and case hardening. Savage 24 in 22 mag over 20 gauge. It has been sitting in my safe for some time as I have a 24C 22lr/20ga that i use for my brush/camping gun and this one never gets to see daylight. I believe it is a 1964 but would have to bounce the serial number off of Savage to confirm date of manufacture. I have been meaning to post it for some time, but after seeing the last post for a Savage 24 and the interest it generated I decided it's time to let this beauty go to someone who can appreciate it and put it to use. I will take $550 cash for it. Only trades I would be interested in are for Marlin or Winchester lever guns (ideally 30-30) so I can chase Coues thru the junipers. I work in Surprise M-F, located in Peoria.

Where's The CC Hit Time Thread

WooHoo. Saw the hit on my CC this morning. My kid got her youth tag. Finally. She has been inputting youth deer for 4 years now. 16 years old and got her first tag. I am stoked. Could care less that I didn't get drawn. At least she did and we can get out chasing deer and hiking the hillsides for her this year.

    Stolen Model 70 Varmint 223

I hope you recover it. We will keep our eyes open for it.
  10. Vortex Viper PST 6-24 MRAD with the EBR-1 reticle. It tracks true and is a great scope but is just too much magnification for what I need. This is the second focal plane model (which I prefer for hunting) and not the FFP model. There is a small scratch thru the anodizing on the OBJ bell, but it is not a dent and does not affect the function at all. I tried to get a picture of the scratch. Box, scope shade, bikini covers, manual, and Vortex stickers included. $550.

    SOLD - Vortex Viper PST 6-24 x 50 MRAD $550

Willing to trade for a lower magnification Vortex Viper or equivalent scope (Athlon, Nikon FX 1000 etc) with Mil reticle/mil turrets like a 4-16 or Gen II 1-6 but want to stay with the mil/mil since all my scopes are milrads. Good lever actions/ stainless wheel guns are always on my radar.

Lion attack on my trail cam?

That is something you don't see very often. In fact, I've never seen it before other than TV. Thanks for posting those.

    Any cc hits today?

I got skunked this year. My daughter didn't get drawn for her youth tag either. Going to be a long, sad fall. No CC hits and checked the portal and no draw. Bummer.

Wtb rem 700 short action adl synthetic stock

I have a ADL short action stock with blind mag, trigger guard, etc that is new and still has the stickers that is sitting all alone in the corner of the gun room. Took the barrelled action out and dropped it in a chassis. Only thing it is missing is the action screws because I needed those for the chassis. PM sent.

  17. I have been on the hunt for hunters ed course field day that works with my schedule but have been unsuccessful so far. They sure fill up quickly. Yes, the bonus point is a nice add on to have. I will attend one of the youth hunt camps with my daughter if she gets lucky enough to be drawn based on all the advice I have received here and in PM's. All in all I'm looking forward to this year. I have been working her on the range and will continue to build her skills. She listens well and is already shooting better than I ever expected. So far she has demonstrated she can hold 1 MOA 5 round shot groups at 100 yd consistently, but when I stretched her out to 400 yd she learned real quick that she has a lot to learn about wind calls with a 75 gr .223. Granted, that is before buck fever sets in, but if I can reinforce muscle memory and SOP for taking the shot when the time comes she will be set up for success. Thanks to all for the advice and PM's. I really do appreciate it. Nathan
  18. Hello everyone. I am hoping you all can help me out with a little advice on how the AZ Fish and Game draw for deer tags works in regards to my daughter. I moved to AZ a couple years ago and have been out deer and elk hunting and understand how the draw/lottery system works for myself. My 14 yo daughter has expressed great interest this year about going hunting with me also and I am excited she wants to get out with me. The question I pose to all of you is this: Do I submit her with myself for a standard deer rifle tag or do I submit her for a youth hunt? I am not sure how the youth hunt system works. Am I able to submit her for a youth hunt as her primary request and a secondary request to come along with me in case she doesn't get drawn for a youth hunt and we get lucky enough to be drawn? I don't know if I apply her with me for a deer tag if that will automatically remove her from the opportunity to draw a deer tag for a youth hunt. I have been reading over the AZ regs but it is still confusing to me. My next step before submitting will be to call AZ Fish and Wildlife and ask them, but I figured I would at least ask here since this has been a very supportive community. My 14 yo is excited and we have been hitting the ranges and practicing for the last couple of months. Anyone with advice regarding the youth hunts and how I should proceed would be appreciated. Nathan
  19. Thank you. That makes it so much more understandable and now I get how it works. Thank you to all for your answers and help. I will submit her for a couple youth hunts and submit myself for a general hunt. If I get drawn and she doesn't, she can have my tag and if we both don't get drawn I will be on the look out for leftover tags. Does anybody know the time when fall draw opens? I know it closes the second week of June but not when it opens. Thank you. Nathan
  20. This entire draw system by units seems so foreign to me. Coming from OR the only draws for deer were for antlerless or spike tags. You could buy a buck tag over the counter and it was good state wide regardless of unit. So I want to make sure I do this correctly to give her the best chance of drawing something and getting out busting some brush with her old man.
  21. I am not sure what you mean by putting in a whitetail hunt 3rd choice that usually has left overs? Do you mean under the youth hunts? Can I submit her for more than one youth hunt. Example. Put in for an antlerless deer in one unit, an antler deer in another unit, a third choice for "left overs". I am not sure what you mean by left overs. I just want to do my best to get her onto a deer this year. We are not particular about bucks or does or going for trophies. Just want to get her her first deer.
  22. On the youth hunt is she required to go with a youth hunting camp or can I take her and mentor her myself? Lots of great info and advice here. I appreciate you all trying to help me set my daughter up for success.
  23. Excellent idea. Thank you. I will input her for a youth hunt and just submit myself for my usual hunt. If I get drawn and she doesn't then I will sign the tag over to her and take her out during the general season.
