Wanted - 25-06 for my son and daughters

I don't want to do math here but there is no tricking physics. Pushing a 117 grain bullet out of a 25-06 is going to give about the same recoil as a 7-08 in 120 grain. The advantage of the the 7-08 is that it can also go 140 gr and beyond. The 25-06 can't. And I in no way support Chuck Hawks but I do use his recoil table occasionally. Recoil table If I got to choose it would be 6.5x284 but 25-06 is a great round, it is easy to get ammo for and screaming flat for Coues. Kent

Great caliber for anyone, not just youngsters, though it has been kind of eclipsed recently in the 6.5/260 anything trend. The 25-06 being limited in bullet weight compared to the 6.5's. Good luck with your search! If no one has something locally there is a barrel on Ebay at $49 currently.
  8. The Howa S&W is a nice shotgun. Japanese made in the 80"s and imported by S&W, like their 1500 rifles (Weatherby Vanguards). Numerich has parts for it including barrels. It was supposed to be an improvement on the 870 design, aka a copy, but it does seem really well built. Kent

  13. Another from the older guy I am helping sell a few things. Winchester 70 in .264 Win Mag. I dated it 1964, so the first year of push feed. In very good condition, wood shows wear from normal use, metal finish is excellent. Don't think it was shot much at all, he had a pre-64 in 270 that he actually used (he's keeping that one). Cool old rifle in a great Arizona caliber. $525 In Tucson Kent

    ISO 300win mag or??????

I don't own anything that says magnum in it anymore, Elk rifle is .280 Rem. CDNN still has Ruger M77s in .280 for $470. CDNN .280 Leaves $500 for a good scope. Meopta maybe.
