    Vegas Superbowl Weekend

If you have any poker players in the group, you can get a "Poker Player Rate" if you play X hrs/day. Usually 5 or 8 hrs per day, which is EASY to do.

    Hunting season in Michigan

Hunting??? Hardly... Just a matter of deciding which one you want to shoot.

Seems right.. How far off does it seem? Obviously you would not have 100 as your zero but...

    No Guide Fees

I never said it wasn't fair, I only claimed that it was NOT what they had been selling for years and NOT what was quoted by Travis in the original thread. And as for me trying to get a free hunt, my priorities changed so instead of waiting for however long it takes to draw 9 or 10, I decided I want to hunt next year. So if I now put in for a hunt that I am almost 100% to draw, why not use them for one years membership fee? Seems stupid not to. For what it's worth, I get pissed when I go to Wendy's only to find out that their .50 frosty deal expired...

    No Guide Fees

As I see it, they are trying to average out the number of years someone must be a member before they are likely to draw. Basically, with the old system, every max point holder could sign up the year before, get a tag and then be guided for the 175.00/350.00. How they didn't foresee this issue is beyond me. Maybe they knew it but just used it as a "promotional" campaign or maybe they simply expected more people to sign up that wouldn't draw each year. It's simple math for figure out what their "nut" is each year/member but Travis would be the one to answer that. Either way, now they factor in your bonus points and the unit. Zero or few points and a premium unit gets you the biggest benefit. Higher bonus points and easy to draw units get you a discount of XX%, but ZERO it's not. If I draw a resident 7W Archery Elk tag in 2019 with my 8 points, I still have to pay them 3,000.00 for a 5 day outfitted or 7 day guided only hunt. If I draw the same tag with 0 points, I still pay them 1,500.00 for the 5 day outfitted. If I draw a unit 10 Early Archery Bull tag with 8 points, I still pay 2,000.00 for the base 5 day outfitted package. If I draw the same tag with 0 points, they cover the entire 4,500.00 It all makes sense and I was going to do exactly what they are trying to prevent, sign up the year before you are almost 100% to draw and then get a cheap guide.

    new draw format sucks

I applied for a spring hunt and received an email with receipt before I was done saving the receipt as a PDF. Hopefully this new system will fix all the "glitches" they have had for the last few years.

    No Guide Fees

For anyone thinking of this program as I was, check the current details because THIS IS NOT what you will receive now. If I draw 13B archery next year, I will still be paying thousands of dollars for them to guide me. I'm sure I understand why it changed but the program that was advertised and sold for years is NOT what you will get now. I was going to sign up and found out the truth so no thanks. Maybe you need to drop the Zero Guide Fees name too.. Or add "Possibly" to it.

Sunday accident north of Star Valley

They need to pave that road, or make it wider, or reduce the speed limit, or put more cops on it or something. Accidents should never happen!

    AZ Unit 23 Archery Deer

Thanks, It's a great unit to spend time in during the summer hunt. Beautiful weather, between the monsoon storms anyway, great scenery, lots of critters to look at and there is always a chance of finding something worth chasing. I love to glass and in the right spots, there is plenty of that to do.

I brought this guy back from 23 after a pretty tough hunt. Not the biggest but won't complain at all. And besides, January isn't too far off.

    MVUM rant again... Still...

Ever since the implementation of the MVUM travel restrictions, I have followed the maps and stayed off the closed roads. While in 7E this last week, it seems few know or care about the restrictions/closures. Many many camps set up on closed roads and campsites. It is so dang annoying to hike in over a mile to a great spot only to find 2 quads and multiple trucks driving around. The 2 trucks just creeping along road hunting with several hunters in each. There was even a traffic jam and I made a comment to one guy that was pulling over to allow the other truck to pass about how it really sucks to have these traffic jams on closed roads. He was either too stupid or embarrassed to do anything other than crack a stupid smile. I think next time I will just keep walking down the middle of the road and not move over to let him pass. He can follow me out at walking speed. And if he wants to get pissy and do something silly, I'll gladly play along. This and finding other people driving down EVERY SINGLE closed road that I glassed is just stupid. I have no problem with the FS closing down roads as I feel there are too many now. I do however have a problem with them doing it without any type of enforcement and not placing any type of signage on the roads so Joe Blow and his freaking flip flop wearing family has some idea that it's a closed road. From what I understand, they can't afford to place signs on the roads. So they can put up signs that say "Don't drive on road when flooded" and "Don't drive on bridge when underwater" but expect people to read a single sign when entering a forest and reference a map that they don't have to determine what roads are actually open? C'mon, people are stupid! Hence the previously mentioned signs. The truly ignorant ones I don't really blame as when a heavily traveled road with a posted forest road # is an option, why not go down it? Everyone else does.. If they truly need the revenue for signs, start issuing citations to all the people on closed roads. One person could have issued thousands of dollars worth of them in the small area I was in. I am very close to saying "Screw it, I'm goin in, up, on and over." Anyway, it was nice to be up there even if half my time was wasted by hiking into areas that I could have just driven into as so many others did.

    MVUM rant again... Still...

That's a call each individual has to make. One can simply disregard and ignore the laws and weigh the punishment against the benefits. If you down an elk, they do allow limited use of a vehicle off road in some areas. And I would suspect that driving off-road would result in a bigger fine than simply driving down a closed road, so the $150.00 fine may be a bit optimistic for tromping through a meadow or two. https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprd3817477.pdf
  23. Just curious if anyone may recognize these two stellar individuals. I know it's a long shot but I'm bored.

Can you ID these two wonderful individuals in 7E?

No, but since you clearly have an interest in such things, I will make sure to forward you any pics of all said weiners should they be captured on film.. "Not that there's anything wrong with that."

Can you ID these two wonderful individuals in 7E?

I do give them credit for hiking in. This is on a road that actually has a "road closed" sign.
