Very nice. Great job!

Those look like Danner Gilas? If they are, I have a pair and they are great boots. A bunch of miles on them quail and javelina hunting.

I guess I would ask, what's your objective? Pro quality photos? High end photos but also sacrificing weight? I would agree that a high end full-frame DSLR is nice, however it might be best to really make the large spend in lenses. More specifically, purchase the lowest aperture lens you can afford (eg, Nikon 70-200 f2.8). I've had all sorts of Nikon DSLRs and I love them all.
But, more recently....I was turned onto Mirrorless DSLRs. I was very skeptical at first. But ended up finding a smoking deal on B&H for a Samsung NX3000 with a 20-50 lens and a 50-200 lens in a combo kit. I liked the idea of it because it was much smaller to travel with, still took 1080P video, great reviews and also synced up to my phone, tablet, etc in order to sync photos/videos wireless (over wi-fi). Ended up getting that and I took it on a few vacations (including in some shady areas in Miami, Rio and Buenos Aires) along with countless fishing and hunting trips. Needless to say, I much prefer if I'm traveling just due to the amount of weight and bulk I can save over any of my full size DSLR's, but still having the ability to take very high quality photos. If you want some examples of photos, let me know and I can send you some Google Photos links.
Granted there are options for Mirrorless DSLRs other than Samsung. Sony, Olympus and Nikon have really stepped up their Mirrorless game.

Ok so Von Hansens won. I took in 32.5lbs of javelina ready to grind.. In return I got some 58lbs of chorizo, spicy cheese summer (not really Spicey at all), hotter than He__ jalapeno cheddar brats.
So the Spicey cheese summer that is stamped hot all over it is not hot at all BUT IS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! I sorta wish I had it all turned into this. Next time I might ask for small amount of jalapeno added not just the Spicey cheese but for real it's so good the added jalapeno would just be to slow me down from eating it all.
Chorizo is great but like all game meat chorizo I have had its like spiced hamburger. Guess it's just hard to make game greasy like normal chorizo. I would do again cuz family enjoys.
The cheddar brats I can't tell you what they taste like cuz so hot I can't feel face after 1st bite. I would do again but would request less dried jalapeno and more cheese.
Can this still be called javelina since it didn't quite double in weight?

Grand total....
$261. And change and let's see about 3.5 hours total driving.
Thanks for the info. I was just about to ask if anyone has gotten their javelina back yet. Mine is butchered up and still vacuumed sealed in my freezer. I'll run it down there next week.

I drew a half decent elk tag this year so I'm gonna be driving a lot to get to the unit. I need some new music suggestions for the ride and couldn't find the old music thread. What have you guys been listening too recently?
Recently I've been listening to a lot of bluegrass (The Devil Makes Three, Trampled by Turtles, Del McCoury). Looking to change it up. Podcast suggestions would be appreciated too!
Great choices. If you're into bluegrass, check out Truckstop Honeymoon.

Me too. First elk tag for me. Pretty excited.

Nightsnake or Gopher?

I saw that. Announced to who? Not me.
It looks like that AZGFD hasn't updated their "Draw Results Progress" to read where they are at for the elk draw. Looking at the current pic on their site, it shows game animals from the Spring Draw.

Looks great. Nice job. I still have a few quail left in the freezer, I'll definitely have to try this.

I was in the same predicament 2 years ago. I eventually decided on a Beretta A300 in Max-5. More specifically because I'm a lefty shooter. You can make adjustments to the stock and swap the safety to the left side. Great gun, lightweight and never a jam. I use it for ducks, quail, turkey and dove. Gunbroker.com had great prices, no tax. Small FFL fee.

Put in for javelina HAM for my first time and ended up pulling a tag. Headed down south with some buddies who have hunted this area for years. Hiked a ton on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Ran into a herd of 4 with two babies on Saturday afternoon hunting some pretty thick flats, immediately hit the J-13 call and they ended up doubling back. The larger of the 4 ended up turning broadside at 15 yards. Fired one shot and hit right in the shoulder. It turned and faced me with some grunts and teeth chatter. One more shot and it went down. Thanks again for the tips on ammo, worked like a charm. Great time for my first HAM hunt and I'll definitely be putting in again for next year.

The gold dots are great I'm a XTP fan. I killed this pig ( I'm sure everyone is getting tired of seeing this picture as I posted this probably a dozen or more times but it was fun!) With 185 XTP. This year I've got 200 gr XTP, mainly because I could not find the same load I used for the first one. I like the Remington golden saber as well and the Federal Hydra-Shok or HST is superb as well.
Definetely gotta get close with a handgun, I think flinching with them gets exaggerated because of the noise! They are fun though, I'll be out with my 1911 next weekend, I was unable to be out this weekend.
Any particular preferences in ammo for your .45? I'll out in 37B this weekend with my 1911. Looking for some recommendations for ammo. Otherwise, I was thinking Speer Gold Dot 230's.
230 gold dots should work great. I've killed a half dozen with Winchester 230 black talons with no issues.
Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

Princeton Tec Sync. Yes, the AAA batteries last a very long time. Lightweight, multiple brightness settings along with a red light setting.

We did pretty good at Roosevelt years ago catching flatties when the water was up using waterdogs. Though I haven't used them in years. Kilmer's had them before they closed. Only place I know of has any out east is Liar's Korner. You also might want to call the bait shop at Jake's Corner or Hwy 188 Tackle.

I'm aware of the B of A issue from a few years ago. Anyone hear of any recent issues with B of A and the draw? Who used a B of A card last year? Did it go through fine?
I used a B of A card for deer, turkey and javelina. No issues, charges went thru just fine.

I was running a 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser M/T 4x4 before I sold it in November and it had about 95k miles on it. At 30k miles, I ended up putting General Grabber AT2 tires on it. I hunt a ton of quail/ducks in the fall and tow a Champion 181 bass boat just about every weekend to the local lakes. It was my daily driver truck to work, probably did the same 70% pavement 30% off road/towing.
I couldn't be more satisfied with the Grabber AT2. I will more than likely be putting the same tire on my 2016 4runner in the next few weeks. They held up great and had a ton of tread left when I sold my FJ. Tirerack.com has a pretty nice price on them right now. I ran a stock 17" rim on my FJ. When I originally purchased them, I actually bought them from a Chevy dealership out in Mesa who was running a buy 3 get 1 free deal. I think it was just over $800 mounted and balanced.
I figured I'd give my input since the Tacoma and FJ are on very similar chassis, motors, etc.

Great truck. I somewhat regret trading in my 2008 FJ m/t. Loved that truck
