I have a Winchester Model 70 post 64 that I want to put a new barrel on. Its chambered in 300 win mag. I talked to a couple gunsmiths that want to charge over $1000 and do all the fancy blueprinting/truing stuff at the same time. My question is it really worth it? My rifle was shooting sub moa as is. The reason I want to rebarrel is because I believe it has been shot out. Ive put over 1500 rounds through it and its starting to get larger groups. I also would like to get a heavier barrel so I can throw my suppressor on it. Does anyone know of any gunsmiths that would be willing to just put another barrel on it without the truing? Or if the blueprinting is necessary who should I go with? Im in the Tucson area and willing to travel or ship the rifle. Thanks

I have some 212gr ELD-x that I am planning on loading up if anyone has recipes for it. I have H1000 and H4831 on hand and I will probably pick up some Retumbo before next weekend.

So I guess everyone has to hunt the way that Win71 does. If you don't hunt his way you are a coward and not a true hunter. I only archery hunt but I don't bring a bow, I just stab my critters with an old school aluminum arrow that I make my own broadheads from out of dinosaur bones...and what is camo? Must be some city slicker stuff.

I dont think point guard is worth it. Im sure its been explained a thousand times but how does the max point work? I have 13 right now and all I know is Ill never be at max point...when do I stop accruing points?
