Awesome!!!congrats!

Thx man. Unfortunately, her dad passed on Thursday morning. He was 84 and one heck of a guy. Played football with Johnny Unitas on the Colts back in the 60’s. He had so many incredible stories and will be missed. My boy only lost his sense of smell and no other symptoms. I came so close to killing 2 different herd bulls on my hunt but the country was so thick and steep they almost had to step on you to get a shot. Late season rifle hunting is surely not the same but hopefully I can connect as the meat tastes just the same! Take care, Mark

Hey guys, 2 weeks ago I left for Montana to archery elk hunt also with 2 Wyoming antelope tags in my pocket as well. Unfortunately my trip was cut way short with a call from my wife that her dad was passing away and my boy had Covid. Needless to say I had to head home 6 days earlier than anticipated. I still have the opportunity to use my elk tag on the general season rifle hunt. I was hunting Northwest Montana and although it was good hunting with bugling elk it is crazy thick and not really interested in rifle hunting it. If any of you guys have hunted the general rifle season in southwest/south Montana and wouldn’t mind sharing some of your experiences I would appreciate a PM. Thx, Mark

Craig, Congrats again on such a magnificent goat and thankful I had the opportunity to help. After a couple hours together you’d have thought we’d been hunting together for years! Look forward to catching up again in the near future. Appreciate Jake’s hospitality and here’s the link to the short video I made.

I’m sure he’ll share….btw took him to local taxidermist in Chino and he said out of 25+ he’s taken in this is biggest or tied with biggest from lots of AZ and New Mexico units. Pretty special goat!

Since this was Craig’s hunt I’ll let him provide pictures if he’d like but here’s a teaser from yesterday morning

Lkiny, Unit 10 has great mule deer. If I understand correctly this is for the youth hunt. Plenty of good deer with a ton of ground including the big Bo. Those youth hunts are pretty special and the timing of that one will put you in lots of elk rutting action as well. Good luck!

Great story and we all felt like we were there!! Thanks for sharing! -
Sneaker, You nailed it! It is public land so it is always good to have plan A-Z. Disheartening for sure when you have your mind set on a spot but taking the high road is always best. We can’t control others actions but we sure as heck can control our own. It’s supposed to be a hobby, like you said wish them well and if we’ve done our homework it shouldn’t be the end of the world!

Assuming that’s a ladder stand leg behind you I would say: 18” beams 2” g1 12” g2 4” g3 5” g3 give him 24” inside spread and 13” mass each side puts him at 132” . I feel that’s conservative with one pic so I say 138”

Wait a minute….I thought all of us hunters were ruthless barbarians😂!!! I would have made the same choice because regardless of the population objective we still have compassion and sympathy when we experience suffering, human or animal. This is the ultimate display of ethics!!!! No one looking, you legally could have turned a blind eye…but you didn’t, couldn’t. This is a story from the forum I will proudly share with my son! Well done amigo! sincerely, Mark

Shawn, Depends if you are trying to use absolutely the lightest gear for packing. I have Kuiu Katana which is around 18 ounces and Kuiu just came out with Chugach TR at 14 ounces. Personally, the Chugach felt a little too thin for my liking and will give my Katana a good test in Alaska next August on a Dall Sheep hunt. Both are extremely breathable and built great like all Kuiu gear. Take care, Mark
