Anyone Heard From The Super 80

I forgot to tell you guys the best part. On Saturday, Jim, Jake, myself, and John Noble had a funny conversation. All day, I had been saying one of my biggest fears is shooting a buck through his antlers. I guess that not only did i do that, that i flat out shot his antler off! Bobbyo, wow man, way to really drag down a a thread that was a decent thread. I am not upset with the size of the deer, but mostly that I blew his antler off with a extremly mis places shot.

We mis judged him. thats part of why i wasnt very happy. I thought he was 97/98 (we both did) and that that was close enough to my goal, all though it was only the 3rd day, I should have passed.

    My December hunt

Thursday night before the hunt, Jnobleinaz and I go out. We glass up 2 nice bucks. One we call a "club" buck, as his right side looked like the side of my hand, with 4 or 5 points sticking up. We decided he wouldnt score real well, but was neat. ther was also a 97-100" buck with him. We decided to get them opening morning. We didnt get them John glasses up 3 nice bucks. We got up to where they were bedded and couldnt find them. John was walking around the bowl when the perfect scenario fell into my lap. nice buck goes to top out through the saddle and Gabe (azpacknhorns) stops him. I miss. Dad kills a buck at 531 yds with one shot! Sunday, I go out with a man who is idol when it comes to hunting. He glasses up a buck at 790 yards. his first words were "big buck, big buck" Immediately my heart starts pumping. I find the deer, and look at him through Jim's spotting scope. The buck needs a better look. We get to 360 yards and Jim finds himin the same bed. We both look at him and are thinking he is 97-98 inches. I couldnt pass this up as he was bedded perfectly, and i thought he was in my target area i wanted as far as score. I get all set up, adjust my dials and i wait for him to quit licking himself. about 20 minutes later, he lifts his head and i push the safety forward..... BOOM! THWACK! I ask Jim where he went and he tells me. I find him in the scope hes walking thorugh the trees looking like he is about to fall. I can see the bullet hole and it is perfect, just a little low. He walks out from behind a tree... BOOOM... THWACK! he goes down. Jim and I can see him laying behind a tree coughing up blood. Well, we walk the ridge up behind him, and I end up seeing him laying there looking at us! I immedately put another one in him, through the base of the neck, and i find the bullet while skinning him in his rear ham ( 91 grains left, not bad fired from 50 yds) Well, to my surprise, he tries to get up again! He gets his rear end up then falls... He then gets it up again, and at this time I put another in him. At the exact moment I shoot, he falls forward and to the left and puts his head infront of the bullet! it entered just above the eye, blows his right antler off, and exits at the rear of the head! I was pretty bummed about it but oh well. Dads buck grosses 87 4/8, mine grossed 92 6/8.

When I was a Cab, we would whoop anyone at any time in any sport ( that I played, the others sucked lol). Dads buck is about 88" according to my tape, and mine with a 14" spread ( which is about what he had) goes 92 6/8

heres my dads buck. This isnt my dad, it is Azpacknhorns uncle Bill. when dad was jumping around after he shot the buck with one shot at 531 yds, he twisted his ankle and couldnt make it up the hill! Myself, Gabe, Bill and John made our way up there.

over scored the buck. shot him in his bed at 360 yds. went over to where he was to finish him. shot him in the head, blew off one side of his antler and busted about 4 inches off of it. A. shot a buck smaller than i wanted. B. Shot him in the head ( and i didnt even need to shoot) but on the plus side. I got to do it all infront of a absoulete coues hunting legend, the best coues hunter in the world. the buck is still the biggest buck i have ever killed. i pretty much feel like dog isshhh right now.

yeah, i got one. not 100". thought he was bigger. ground shrinkage. aint a story i want to say becuase it makes me sick. not cause of the size of the deer, but the rest of the story. he would go about 93" Brian, scott and those who know the story lets just leave it at this for a little while alright? Im pretty upset about the deal and im not ready for the ribbin im gonna get. PS, dad killed about a 88-90 inch buck opening evening. one shot at 531 yds. yes i missed a nice buck opening day. flat out missed. cake shot, 220 yds broadside. missed. happens to the best of us.
