Ummm. I've got tracks over my boot tracks after I walked in the dark to glass. Three mornings in a row. Walmart special tread. Had a dude walk into my camp and ask for water yesterday. Choppers blowing up my buck nests for two days straight. Dudes on the ground with German shepherds. Hopefully the bucks come back. F Biden....

Not sure sure what to tell you on your observations other than get outta the truck now and again, with all due respect?

Truck does not move once camp is set up. Miles of hiking and glassing for 4 days, kinda that way every year.

  2. I can recall my first AZ duck limit, it was opening weekend 1969. It was my dad and brother along with our neighbor up in the white mountains. I think we had a boat and decoys set up on the W end of basin lake just north of big lake in eastern AZ. High overcast, breezy and the migration south was going strong. We could see V after V of waterfowl high up flying south. On a regular interval ducks would bomb in over our decoys. One time a pair of red head drakes came in at full speed from left to right just over the decoys and I got on them fast, had that old Winchester MOD 97 12G working faster than you would think a 13 year old could and dropped them both, bang bang. 2 days 4 limits each day and 56 birds total. Mallards, pintails, widgeon, gadwall and teal. Awesome weekend hunt and as you can guess have never seen its like since.

  3. I have seen that happen on an Elk hunt. Was it cold? A Rem trigger that is gummed with up with old oil and/or it's really cold can bring out this flaw in their design. Remington triggers have that flaw in it, time for Trigger Tech.

Bipod imo is unnecessary weight (especially this year). I use a triclawps on the front of the gun and a primos trigger stick on the back end. Take a beanie and put it in the y of the trigger stick and use the little strap on the handle to cinch it down in place. Then you can slide it back and forth on the butt stock to raise and lower it.  I'll set it up like that for the kid with the cross hairs underneath the buck so when they press down on the stock with there cheek it anchors the back end in place and it will raise the cross hairs right where he will need it. Very simple but very effective and next best thing to shooting prone but not having to worry about grass being in your way on a prone shot.  My youngest drilled his first buck at 200 yards this way

How do you haul all that around the hills then find time to set it up before the shot is passed?

  5. Did you get a "ARIZONA 2022 GENERAL ELECTION PUBLICITY PAMPHLET"? It has ratings on Judges by a Judicial performance commission , Attorneys, Litigant/Witness's and jurors. For example the section judging appellate court justices and judges two judges had 7-8 performance commissioners abstain from voting which was unusual. The commissioners could not bring themselves to say said judges did not meet standard but they could not bring themselves to vote for the said judges. BTW the two said judges, one got low marks for "Legal Ability" and the other was rated low for "Judicial Temperament" by the Attorneys. I agree this is an important part of the ballot.
