Awesome looking buck! Congrats!

I have the 10x10 VX .. it’s awesome, but more than two with gear and you’re gonna snuggle up to each other! we fit a queen mattress and a cot with very little room between. flex bow is so cool to setup though and well worth it. I kick myself for not getting the 10x14 when I bought.

Anything I should know before buying a trager?
NewlyMinted replied to Crazymonkey's topic in The Campfire
Jumping on the bandwagon here. I got a Louisiana grill when they were being cleared out of costco. It's been great for searing and smoking. I used somes brick in the corners to even out the temperature gradient when doing our turkey, but it works and weathers well. My neighbor is on his second Traeger over the same time period and talking about his 3rd "upgrade" .. our meat tastes the same. Still have my grill for burgers and stuff though. -
Wow! 48hrs and done! That's awesome! He's to 3rd pass card hits

We sushi'd a yellowfin and a skip jack on the trip back to the dock and they were both amazing.

We got into some skip-jack tuna a few years ago. Some folks were sad, but they tasted great.

I rented the first two years, then bought my own gear. Over the last 5 years we've pulled in the 20-30lbs Tuna and I've appreciated having my own gear. I'd rent again if I didn't have my own since it's way cheaper, but I would 100% bring some color tape or elastic bands so that you can see your rod on the wall of of 25 other rods just like it. The only time I lost a fish due to a bad knot was when someone grabbed my rental and I had to take another rod. The tuna was at the water and then the hook just came off. Just a note on the take-down rods: We have the same 20+ guys on the boat every year, and a couple years ago someone bought a high-end take down game fishing rod because they were flying in from Michigan. With a fish on, the end section came off and he lost the fish and use of his rod. It is the only experience I have with a take down, but that is enough for me
