This post is for the dogs

TJ - She is just a good luck charm. I got her a few months before my nephew's cow hunt. My brother and I were up scouting just before the hunt and decided to fish at Long Lake. I couldn't cast out without her chasing it into the water, so I put the pole down and started throwing her ball into the water. After a half hour of her splashing and churning up the water, she was finally tired. She laid down, so I picked up my pole, and the first cast into where she had been romping I landed a 3lb. rainbow, my largest. A few weeks later she was right by my side when my nephew shot his first elk at 70 yards. The next year I brought her on my brother's archery bull hunt. We stalked into a herd opening evening, and my brother shot his first bull. He had a 20 yard shot, the dog and I were 15 yards back. Both elk dropped within sight so I haven't been able to see her tracking skills. She gets pretty excited when we cross a fresh track or she hears a bugle. Now I just need her to lead me to my first coues.

Here is my elk guide. She is 2 for 2 on hunts: one jr. rifle cow and one archery bull.

needing some help for a junior hunt.

I see them quite often when I fish Lake Pleasant. If you have a boat, try up Humbug Cove or the Agua Fria River. If not, there are roads that head back there also. PM me if you have any more questions or want a few more spots. Good luck.

    Where to lOOk

Bob, these city pigs are alot more sophisticated than their country counterparts. They actually followed her in, then proceeded to eat the neighborhood shrubs and plants. Not something you see everyday around here.

    Where to lOOk

I have seen some in strange places, too. A few years ago there was a herd that got into my friends gated community on 56th St. & north of T-Bird. I have also seen some off of Mayo Blvd. between Tatum and Scottsdale.

    Looking for a new release.

You can't go wrong with any of the Scott releases. I haven't used those 2 specifically, but I really like my little bitty goose. My brother I think has the sabertooth?? and that is real nice too. The forward trigger design is great, and I definitely reccomend the n.c.s. connection.

    New Bow Hoyt Carbon Matrix.....

It sounds like a few on this thread have shot it and went with something else. Everyone has given you good advice. Shoot what feels best to you, after all, you'll be the one shooting it, not us. That bow does look awesome, but that would'nt be my deciding factor on a puchase.

    Nice shout out for CW.com

Was just looking through the latest Bowhunter magazine and noticed Curt Wells gave a little heads up about CW.com in his Tried & True section "The Best for the West." He was talking about optics and mentioned to check out the store here. Pretty cool!

    barttlet

I have been there a few times recently. Always get a few around the marina and sherrfif's station on drop-shot, Zoom finesse in mossy pumpkin or Roboworms in morning dawn and aaron's magic. Anywhere from the bank to about 20 ft. deep. Ran way up river past the no-wake last time and got into a few up shallow in the trees tossing senko's and soft jerk baits. Had better luck in some of the coves around Yellow Cliffs pitching pumpkin or watermelon lizards and brush hogs. Chunk rock seemed to be the key, and the bite was real light. Make sure to watch your line. Also have done good in Alder Creek and the coves around there using the same stuff. Haven't seen or heard of anyone catching crappie, although I'm sure some are. I don't normally go after them. I did see a few cruising real shallow in a cove just south of Alder, so maybe they are getting ready to spawn. Anyways, good luck.
  17. Put in with your son. It sounds like that's what you really want, and if you have been frequently drawn the last 5-7 years you shouldn't have alot of bonus points anyways to worry about averageing the two of yours together. Besides, it's a crap shoot anyways. Last year, my brother had 6 bp's for elk and I had 4. We put in seperate. He drew, I did not. This year, we put in together, along with a friend that had never even put in. Guess what, we are all going elk hunting!!

    7 deadlypins

I agree the sight is rock solid. Spendy, but worth it. Lately I have been leaning more towards Cody's line of thinking, though. I don't like gapping pins at longer distances, and I think the 3 pin + slider would clear up the clutter of 7 pins. Just not sure I can bring myself to change from the 7dp because it is so nice.

    Roosavelt Lake

Haven't been to Roosevelt since mid-Dec. but the bite was ok on deep diving cranks and spoons. Been spending more time at Bartlett deer hunting and fishing. The fishing has been better than hunting for me so far. I have been on a pretty good bite drop-shotting finesse worms and dead-sticking senkos in 15-40ft of water. Cranks have been good, too. The crappie guys are around Yellow Cliffs and seem to be catching a few. I hunted the 21 side in December and saw a few mulies. No decent bucks seen yet. I motored over to the 22 side the other morning, hiked in and glassed all day. Finally saw a good buck but it was late in the afternoon and he was too far for a stalk. He had a group of 8 does with him. Hopefully its starting to heat up.

    Meat Processor

I was in Williams opening weekend of archery deer season and stopped at Williams Feed & Pet for my turkey tag. The guys there were really cool and mentioned they will have a processor there this year. Here's the info from the flyer they gave me: Arizona Mobile Meat (602) 525-2832 located @ Williams Feed & Pet 338 Grand Perry Rd. Williams, Az exit 167, just south of I-40 ready for pick-up in 24 hours Just FYI for those of you with elk or deer tags in that area this year.

Is the arrow wrap that's in the picture included with these? Sounds easy to install. Thanks.

    Bowstrings

I would check your specs to make sure they haven't stretched. Measure your brace height, tiller, axle-to-axle and see if they are in line with where they should be. Those Zebra strings are notorious for stretching. If they have stretched, replace with any of the strings that have been mentioned, they're all quality.

    Crappie ?

If you are set on Bartlett, launch at Yellow Cliffs and head straight across to the fish habitat. I've picked up a few around there, but it has been tough. Good luck.
