in my twenty years on the mountain i have not seen or heard of fishing as good at fool hollow and scotts as it is this year. huge channel cats and trout to 20". lots and lots of trout-we will see if they bite when the water warms. try a dry camp on blue ridge mtn or brown creek if you want to get away from town a little. both are just east of scotts. lee

1) almost no warm water stocking except urban lakes. 2) while big lake gets an occasional summer stocking of surplus fish when other waters warm too much it is managed for stocking fingerlings in huge numbers once a year. something like 200,000 1-3 inch fingerlings stocked annually-thats why all the fish have pink meat. or was it 2,000,000? best advice-fish big lake and forget all the lakes on the stocking schedule. 3) luna unknown-usually managed like nelson. lee

while draw result season and shed season always correspond.....kinda rare to be catching limits of yellowtail and bft to 50lbs in march out of 'dego. light loads on the boats and the weather is spectacular! lee

going back to basics.....Jack made the .270 famous all by himself but considered the 30-'06 the best cartridge in existence. personally i can't think of anyone who would call themselves a rifleman and not have an 'aught-6. but i'm old school and used one for my once-in-a-lifetime pronghorn last sept. lee
