  1. Allen,

I have travelled in Mexico for 35 years. The Tourist towns are usually not a problem as long as you follow a few good rules.Example( Do not travel after dark down some back street ). I go fishing in a place about a two hour drive south of Rocky Point. This is a very remote place were they are having bad drug smuggling problems right now. I was down there the first of june and about 9:00pm after dark,a hummer drove up the beach with no headlights on. They drove up to are camp and about 10 federales with machine guns totally surrounded our camp. They went through are whole camp. After about 45 stressfull minutes they said everthing was ok and that they were looking for drug Runners. If the Surf fishing was not so darn good down there, I would be a little more reluctant. But like I said, the tourist towns are safer.

  2. Shot my biggest buck while he was eating barrel cactus fruit. This was a Nov. tag. I can not remember if the fruit is still on with the dec. hunt (Since it has been 13 years since my last fricking late hunt)

  3. Ernesto,

I think you misunderstood my comments. I agree with you, Do not know why he poached the bear and lion, when he could buy a tag over the counter. I was just saying that maybe if they were deer or elk,I would understand his motives. This does not mean I agree with him. Poaching is illegal and wrong regardless of speceis.

  4. Hard to understand this guy. If he was shooting monster deer or elk, I would think he is the type of guy who is wrecking our great hunting traditions.(Guys That shoot animals illegaly and a few years later pretend they shoot them legally). This guy is shooting bear and lions.Who knows why he is doing it.

  5. I just Called the game and fish. It is legal to use radios for hunting. I had already known this . Although from some of the comments,I was questioning my self. I guess it then depends on how each person draws the line. As long as it is legal, then I have no problems with them. What bothers me more about the future of hunting is the people who go for the horns and could care less about the meat.

  6. I am 42 years old and a native. Started hunting when I was 10.I think out of the 32 years only three have been for Mule deer. I do not know how many I have shot because for a few years you could get a extra tag for whitetail in the southern units. I am guessing about 28 or 29. About five years ago I shot a 185 inch mule deer with my muzzleloader on a rut hunt by Wickenburg. Although it was a fun hunt. It still does not compare to all of my Whitetail hunts.

  7. A trophy is in eye of the beholder. I would say that most people who have hunted them a while would say that 100 gross is the start. I have lots of bucks that go between 90 and 99. But only a few that go over 100. My problem is I love to eat them so much that usually the first I see in the mid 90s I shoot.

  8. Ultramag,

I totally agree with you. I still for the most part like the surgery. But I have exactly the same side effects as you. There are times in the late evening that I have to close my eyes for about five minutes and let my eyes rest. Then resume glassing. One of the fears I have had is It could get worse with time. It sounds like yours has not after eight years. That makes me feel more confident.

  9. I Shot a big bear that made the book years ago in unit 21. I thought it would be bad. But after cutting all the fat off and grinding into burger with beef fat. It was not to bad. Pulled the trick on not telling company what it was until after they ate it.They loved it untill I told them. Back when you could bait them a friend of ours would shoot them every year. He would tell us that some were really bad and some were good. He felt it was what they had been eating.

  10. I lived in Soutern Idaho at the time. My Uncle had sold the trailer to the guy that was hiding Claude. Most of the locals hated the game warden, and all of the rumors about what the game warden had done to other people are true. I guess the other game warden was a ok guy. Game Wardens are like any other profession. You have good and bad. He still did not have the right to execute them after wounding them. I do know that the game warden told Claude that he was taking him back dead or alive. It is to bad that the game warden had not been fired years before it had ever happend. I have total support for our game wardens in Az. But my dad who is a native, has told me about a guy who was a warden in Az about 40 years ago. He seems like he was a lot like the warden Claude shot. I guess he had pulled his gun on a lot of innocent people in Az. I think they finally fired him.

  11. Darton (Maverick) For the money is my favorite bow. 500.00 dollars for the bow alone. First bow to come out with the cam and a half. If you have the extra 200.00 dollars, buy the matthews. The darton shoots just as good. The only difference is the matthews will probally last longer due to the stronger parts. If you do not shoot year round, then the darton will last for years.

  12. After reading 257stw and his comments. And also from my own experiences ,when you hike in a long way the type of people you encounter are usually more respectfull. Unless they drove there quads offroad for miles. Those people you feel like shooting there quads and make them walk out. Which will make them have a Heart attack because there in such bad shape.
