Hello my fellow hunters, I recently drew an awesome muzzleloader hunt and I want to pull the trigger on a nice modernized weapon system. Iām currently torn between Remington 700 ultimate muzzleloader or the new CVA Paramount. Have any of you had experience with these two rifles or would suggest another please feel free to give me some feedback. Thank you.

New muzzleloader... Need help!!!

So I received my Remington 700 U.M.L. and I fed 200 grains of 777 with a 250gr accutip and out of the box I achieved a sub MOA 3 shot group at 100 yards. I also went 3 for 3 at the 330 yard gong. Long story short... stock Remington 700 U.M.L. although pricey is worth every penny in my opinion. An absolute tack driver!!!! Thanks for all the input guys. Maybe down the road I might convert to blackhorn 209 but if Iām achieving this accuracy thereās literally no reason to change as of right now. -

Hey metau, How Much blackhorn 209 powder can the stock RUML handle? Do I absolutely need an arrowhead breech plug to shoot BH209?? -

rkv09 awesome thanks for your two cents!! Iām definitely gonna go with the U.M.L. almost everything I have heard from them is great. I want something I can reliably hit out to 300. I know the stock rifle didnāt workout with you but hopefully I wonāt get a factory dud lol. I greatly appreciate the help man. Thank you. -

Thatās awesome rkv09! I greatly appreciate the info. It sure looks like I will be going that route. So can you tell me more about your set up? So why did you have the arrowhead breech plug installed?? Is it because it wasnāt designed for BH209 powder?? Iād love to hear your feedback on the matter. Thanks for the help man. -

Yotebuster: Iāve heard the same thing but no definitive proof on the matter. I know of guys shooting 150 grains volume all day long but then I see posts saying never go passed 120 volume cuz you will gas cut your muzzleloader...? -

Hey thanks for the feedback guys! Youāre all awesome. Keep it coming. So I had a question with the Remington 700 ultimate and blackhorn 209 powder. I hear thereās been a lot of problems with the breech plug getting gas spliced with that powder. So my question here is how much powder by āweightā and āvolumeā do you use? And have you ever had issues with the breech plug messing up from shooting Blackhorn 209. -
Thanks Guys! Yeah he was worth putting a tag on Love hunting those rutting bruisers!

So I was out hunting on opening day with not much activity. Small bucks herding The does like usual. Following day spotted this nice buck bedded with 8 does, he had pushed all the small bucks off the mountain. I managed to stalk up too him and close the distance to 110 yards, he then stood up and I grunted at him. He then approached me with his ears back ready to scrap and I smoked him at 80 yards. Nice buck! Yet another record book deeršš»

So before opening day I backpacked my way into a remote part of the unit. In there I spotted a monster 4x4, definitely a 180+ buck. With him were 9 different bucks. All of which were good size! I set up camp within 3/4 mile of where these bucks were hanging out. Opening morning I set up and start spotting without seeing a deer in sight... That night happened to be super windy and the bucks moved to a totally different area to get away from the wind. So there I was playing the cat mouse game again, funny how these big bucks operate. Its never easy to pattern these guys! Just when you think you have hunch of what theyll do, they end up doing the opposite. Love chasing these buggers. So I crept my way into where they were the day before. I then tracked which area the bucks had gone. Turned out they went into the deepest nastiest canyons in the area. I was tracking them when I noticed the wind changed going strait towards the tracks.... Not Good....Being bad wind I changed my game plan and decided to hike to the peek across where there tracks went into. Once up there not more than 30 mins later I found 8 bucks bedded down. But NOT the monster 4x4 I was after. Bummer! So what do I do, I have a monster 3x3 almost 30 wide in perfect shooting position. Do I pass him or kill the big 3... I literally sat there puzzled for like 20 mins trying to decide. Ive been hunting long enough to never pass up a shooter on the first day. So I decided to go after the big 3! I stalk up and close the distance taking full advantage of the heavy wind. Closed the distance to 200 yards and let Bertha aka My 7mm rem mag take care of the rest. Nailed him first shot, dropped immediately! Thank the Lord for another awesome year of hunting!

Kifaru vs Stone Glacier packs... Which One??
Coues Archer posted a topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Hello guys, not too long ago I posted a similar topic on this forum regarding which pack to get for my hunting needs. The problem back then was that I had done minimal research regarding each brand and such. Out of curiosity I just wanted to know what kind of packs a lot of you guys are running. Didn't really know what I needed until I wrote everything down. After MUCH research I have narrowed my choices to these two brands. The two packs I have narrowed down too are the: 1.) "Kifaru Reckoning/ Duplex Hunter Frame" 2.) "Stone Glacier Sky 5900/ XCurve frame" Now I have done an immense amount of research regarding these two systems and there is little to no negative comments about both, they are pretty much top notch according to all owners feedback. I have also wrote down below what I absolutely need to have in my hunting pack. And I also have listed some other attributes that maybe SOME of you can relate too; height, weight and waist etc.. Below is what I have come up with. Please give credible feedback on what you are running and if you can give me any advice on these two systems. Any advice or experience is MUCH appreciated, Thank you! Body dimmensions: Height: 5' 7" Weight: 155.. Medium build guy! Waist: 32" Pack Expectations: Now I'm looking for a pack that is very modular! What I mean in that, is something that I can load up and pack into some rough country for up too 5 days. But once I'm at my desired location I can simply make camp and from camp; I can turn my pack into a bivy mode and do some day hunting with the same pack. Now I know many of you take two packs for this very purpose but I just don't see any point in that... I feel like its redundant and pretty stupid to add weight and space.. also really pricey$$$. Below are what I have cultivated in my research regarding these two systems. Stone Glacier Pro's: -Lightweight = 5.5 lbs. -Good stitching -Bag material is good for minimalist pack -Bivy Mode compatible -Water bladder compatible -Meat Shelf = Awesome meatshelf! According to all users. -Frame Versatility = of the new Xcurve is supposedly awesome! And very easy/fast to adjust to any person in seconds! Also does well with heavy loads! -Frame = is pretty flexible and well ventilated as a day pack, also gives you the option to add or take out cushion in the lumbar pad! Honestly that's an awesome feature! Kifaru pro's: Extremely Durable Somewhat lightweight = 6.5 lbs or so! Excellent stitching Strong bag material! Bivy Mode compatible Water Bladder Compatible Pocket location is awesome! Meat Shelf as well, but have heard many complaints about it... According to people, the meat shelf is not as well thought out as the Stone Glacier?? Maybe its just one of those biased remarks, idk?? Frame Versatility = Hunter Duplex Frame is awesome from what I hear! People say thecomfort of the frame is unlike any other! Extremely comfortable with heavy loads! But I hear tuning it in to can be troublesome due to having a TON of straps and connections going each and every way. Frame = I hear that the frame for day hunting is not as good because its so stiff? They also say that the lumbar pad is really big and can get uncomfortable when day hunting?? maybe just a biased remark but who knows?? So as you can see the bags are really similar but what I'm looking for is the feedback on how the bags performed and personally fit you?? I hear that the SG is more fitting for people who are smaller to medium build and the kifaru are more suitable to medium to big/tall people. P.S. I don't how accurate this is? Just from what Ive seen on the comments on various forums. Hopefully I was able to paint a good enough picture to have you guys help me decide lol.. And in all honesty I feel like both packs would be awesome but I only want ONE! Thanks again. -
Wow, what a freakin beast! Congrats to the guy who stuck that one. WE NEED A STORY!
