  1. Be grateful you have a processor.

Two years ago when I killed a late bull several places in Payson along with one in Tucson just said “no, sorry, we are full.”

I ended up dropping it at Millers and if I am not mistaken it took 6-8 weeks to it back…and everything I took in was boned out and all I wanted was grind & steaks.

    PS congrats on your bull.

  2. My buddy lives outside of Fairbanks and had an archery moose tag that was valid in his backyard…one morning in season he saw a cow, munching away broadside next to his backyard target at 40yds. It was his easiest hunt & pack out ever…

  3. I bought mine in 2012 with my tax return. Think that was the last year I ever got one.

One of the main rationales was a potential move out of state for work. At the time I bowhunted a lot and the idea of hunting the winter archery reason for just the cost of a nonres deer tag was appealing.

If the annual hunt/fish combo cost doesn’t increase it will pay for itself in 7 more years.

I would encourage anyone under 50 who can afford it to buy one.

You think if I went to Ensenada with an expired passport and checked by the marines, would they care? I’m thinking of fishing out of Ensenada cuz F California

I would renew my passport so it was not a potential stress and hassle.

  5. Not Socal but had a good time fishing for 3 days out of Westport, WA this week. We did a combo rockfish/salmon trip day one and got limits of both mooching, herring for Coho in 50-100' of water and rockfish at 200.' Day 2 we trolled for salmon and picked up two nice kings along with limits of coho. The last day we tried for Albacore but it was a slow day, we got one take down trolling and hooked several more on a live bait once the troll fish was hooked up and we stopped. We ended up 3 fer 6, I had one on but mine popped off. I enjoyed this fishery and the little town of Westport and would fish it again for salmon and rockfish. We were blessed with calm seas and light winds every day too.

  6. I did a 3 day on the Polaris Supreme 3 weekends ago, the winds were steady 25+ the whole trip but the waves were on only a major factor in the evenings. The bite was also only really on at night, mostly 11pm-3am.

The jackpot fish was in the daylight the first day, a lone sinker rig hook up that came in at about 170#

The first evening we made on decent stop and pulled 10-12 fish on jigs in the dark that all were 80-100# I got one on a 200g Mustad Moonriser Sardine knife jig that came in at 84# gutted/gilled on the dock.

I don’t know if any fish were caught in the daylight on Saturday, but Saturday night in the middle of the night there was a fairly consistent bite. All the fish we voted were   25 to 50 pounds after the first day.

Sunday produced a little bit of calmer weather and we did get some fly line action in. I caught a couple of fish nothing big on fly lines, 50# flouro with a #2 hook with my set up.

We fished until almost 1 AM Monday morning…When we were doing a return to the docs around 5 AM Monday. The boats captain and crew worked very hard. We came in just shy of boat limits for BFT.

Knife jigs in the dark 180 -300g color didn’t matter was ticket on this trip. I got at least 10 tuna on the same jig I kept tied on the whole trip with a crimped 5’  100 pound flouro leader tied to my 100# braid.

Right before the trip I did in early June the fish were starting to get Squirrley and I think that’s been consistent throughout the month. The weathers been rough the entire season to date as well.

I’m on the waiting list on a couple of overnight boats in mid July as we have a weekend trip over there planned but that’s probably it for me this season in SD.
